2022 Limited w/ TRD Offroad pkg tires ?

I'll do the same BUT I am going to ask my dealer if I can get a deal on tires right away and they keep the Michelin's. I don't really know if that is a thing dealers do but worth a shot anyway.

 

Good idea, they might, you may take a hit on the “trade in vale” given how dealerships work as I’m sure they will want to make $$ on the transaction any way they can. But might just be worth it. I may ask mine the same question.

 

Dealer said no discount would be full price but I could try to make a deal with a local tire shop or sell the takeoffs on marketplace.

 

The wildpeaks are pretty much a summer tire too. The tread is half the depth as any other AT tire I have had and are designed more like all weather.

 

Tks, I’ve only started looking. Whatever I pick will be used as a summer tire anyway, I will always run dedicated snows for winter, which is my future self problem in the fall.

 

Sure and this perhaps is why user feeddbact speaks to them being quiet but at least these have the 3PMSF rating and anecdotally do well in light snow conditions, which is really all I see on the west coast of BC.

 

My ko2’s are noticeably better in the snow then the wild peaks ATW3A that came with my limited . But they weren’t horrible. I was more worried about getting a flat with the weaker tire. I tend to get nails where I work. And drive hard on bumpy roads.

 

I thought the TRD off-road package came with the TRD logo black rims?
Is that a different package?

 

Murica gets the super nice all black wheels with the red TRD in the middle. This pic is of Canadian off road which gets a two tone wheel.

 

Which is brutal IMO!!

 

U.S. spec...On the Limited and SR5 Sport....but on the SR5 Off Road it's the natural alloy edge against the dark grey/black.
Like everything else, Toyota has no idea what people really want with the colors, textures, trims. Aggravating as hell.
If a guy buys a TRD he should get the TRD logo'd wheels. It's always about the up sell.

 

I think that the Malaysia site is wrong re: "Summer" tire.
-The Michelin LTX Trail is a M&S rated tire, I just verified on my Tundra
-this is a new tire, so not any reviews yet
-the Falken has good reviews, very high rating on snow vs. the Trail which is probably good on light snow
-the Falken will probably be better off road (in 18 inch version) vs. the Trail
-the Trail probably better/quieter on road vs. Falken
-some of us will want to swap out the Falkens for Michelins and vice versa

No history / reviews on the Trails yet because it is new. The Falkens have are generally reviewed with high marks.

For off road use , it seems that 18 inch is better than 20 inch ?

 

There is a picture of the sidewall in another thread. I didn’t see any 3peak mountain symbol on it.

 

the Michelin LTX trail tire on my truck has the "M & S" on the sidewall, and the tirerack site said it is ok for light snow. It is not a Summer tire

What I don't understand is why the wheels do not have TRD center cap since It has the Premium Offroad Pkg ??

 

I liked the trails. They were quiet and rode well. Treaded water just fine as well. I don’t have any other input on them now that I have a set of Cooper Evolution M/T

 

Because Toyota's design team were absent for design school.....they have absolutely no idea what owners want when it comes to those details.

 

I guess U r correct. I spent $4k for the Premium Offroad package and Toyota did not even include $5 worth of caps to help make it all look good.

 

Does any OEM of vehicles reach out to their customers and ask for feedback? One would think they must and take it under consideration?

There are going to be a multitude of differing needs/wants/desires, etc. amongst the consumer dataset yet there must be some trends out there that are no brainers [i.e., TRD hubcaps on TRD OR packages, for example]. I for one would be interested in participating in one of those surveys/discussions, etc. They sure miss the boat on a few things that seem rather obvious.

 

I don't know if they reach out, but they should have an inherent understanding of what buyers want. When virtually every buyer we read from is changing the look of their truck with colors (beyond tires) there is a clear disconnect with what folks want as a finished product.

I took one look at this truck at debut months ago and knew immediately that I couldn't stomach the chrome look on the front end. And im not adverse to chrome, but on this truck it's awful. As a long time body man and restoration guy, I know what I like and largely what others like too.

 

Can anyone give update on how these tires perform off-road? any sidewall picture?

How is it in bad weather?

Is it quiet on the road?

 

I have a CAD LTD TRD OR with these 18" Michelin Trail tires. They were fantastic on dry road, very comfortable ride, extremely quiet. So quiet that my wife drove up behind me on the highway while I was on my road bike, and I did not hear her approaching. I was in love with these tires, until yesterday! Yesterday it snowed and wow they are terrible in snow/ice. I have a feeling we may have gotten a bit of freezing rain before the snow started to stick, but wow these are really disappointing. Too bad. I guess I will have to look for an upgrade.

 

Were other cars on the road having issues too??

 

I have been wondering about the differences in the CDN TRD upgrade and why we get the wheels and tires that need to be replaced for looks and functionality? Seems like an oversight. My Tundra looks weird with this setup. I think the exposed aluminum is messing up the look by making the wheels and tires look smaller than they are. Center caps?? Mine have a nice little silver Toyota logo instead of the TRD logo.
