I hear you... but it’s a mix of gov and non gov sources that indicate cement production is absolutely 100% not the largest emitter of co2.

You might be right. I had an ‘86 F-250 for 23 years and now have an ‘03 Silverado since new. I have been in the market for a new PU since ‘19 but have been apprehensive about pulling the trigger for the new computer on wheels. We live very remotely and reliability is the number one. I don’t really know what I’m going to do.

It is actually far more expensive to drive a BEV per mile than an *equivalent* ICE vehicle when using those commercial chargers. In my example it is the same cost per mile to drive my truck as that small SUV. And when comparing apples to apples, i.e. the same vehicle class, one electric and one not you are paying way more to drive the BEV when charging at those commercial points. As noted, that $0.41/kWh= $5.60 for gas. This makes BEVs the wrong tool for highway trips. Great for local and DD as long as you can get home to charge... at least for now. But like you I suspect they will hammer us with higher rates there, too, later when we are locked in to BEVs.

Back on topic here. For those 2022 Tundra owners that have unfortunately experienced a turbo/wastegate issue, what have the dealerships/Toyota stated is wrong with the wastegates? And how is Toyota ensuring the same issue(s) won't happen to the replacement turbo assembly? I think it would be good to push the dealers/Toyota for some answers as to what was the root cause of the failure and that the failure point was addressed in the replacement.

Thank you in advance and I'm sorry that you are having to deal with the wastegate issue!

Not entirely true. The problem is how we let these sorts of business practices ruin a potentially good thing. OK, sorry, this got a little sideways from the turbos. But then we don't really have any new information on that issue anyway.

I'm going to go "broken record" here, but Toyota really should consider extending the Tundra drivetrain warranty. 100k like the Titan. Come on Toyota, be confident!

Well, "demand" away but your truck is no where near lemon law yet lol. But seriously I hope it is fixed and you do not have to deal with this again. Frustrating I am sure.

The Electric Elephant. Two Stories-All true.
    • Friend one lives in SW installed Solar panels. First couple of years-great. Huge savings. Local/State government gets involved. Now pays sizable annual tax based on Square footage of panels and electricity rolled back into the grid. Most of these start-up Solar companies started under Obama/Biden and now everyone of them is out of business.
    • Another Friend caught in early winter large snowstorm where thousands of motorist stuck on interstate. The various Electric vehicles were shutting down stranding many in cars without heat.
My opinion-we are being fed a full plate of hogwash on viability of Electric vehicles and Solar Energy as the technology for efficiency is a long way off. The government sees Solar Energy and Electric Vehicles as just another tax revenue stream.
In the future, it will be worked out? (One could only hope) But now, its all BS. Now I'll tell you about the high MPG gas fuel system sitting in a Government Lab observed in 1991-Yup-all with my own eyes. Gov still hold patent and locked away to this day. Suspect big oil lobby has much to do with this. This is at a location rivaling secrecy of Nellis AFB.

BEV's are great if you charge at home and mostly do short trips day to day. Most people fit this model.

If you need a truck(notice I said need, not want, like most of the truck owners in Houston), you probably don't fit that model, at least some of the time.

This is an excellent point. Friends "think" they are rich, that's their opinion. The main point is YOU are very happy with your lifestyle and THEY are very happy with theirs. If you are very happy with your lifestyle, the lifestyle of others should have no effect on you.

Great point!!....When new vehicles crept up to the price of a vacation/Airbnb rental house that provides ongoing income for years, I knew I had to make a change. I love new vehicles and always have, but instead of buying that new truck, I am gonna buy another house...I mean...its pretty much in the same ball park these days depending on location.

A business owner or several other professions can use tax write offs for new vehicle purchases, this expense will greatly reduce the amount of taxes they owe, in some cases it actually covers the full note. To assume someone is dumb for buying a new car every three years(without knowing their finances, which is no ones business anyway), is as dumb to assume they are looking down on you.

Ok, for reference, found out my production date per dealer data, was Jan 05, and shipped out next day headed to Norton Tulsa. About 700 mi thus far, no issues.
    Fingers crossed!

You have to shop, You can find acres of land and smaller houses all over northern Michigan near recreation areas, snowmobile areas and lakes for under 100k. I live in the southeastern US where things are a bit more, but have friends in a few areas up north where I like to fish, hunt, Atv etc...and its not unheard of to be able to get a small cabin adequate for a summer recreational HQ for about the cost of some of the newer trucks

I am sure if you have rented Airbnb's before you may have rented one that started out that cheap,....anything can be rebuilt to look and feel nice and it doesn't have to be in a bad area, just because the major cities prices are off the charts does not mean that the rest of the country have astronomical real estate prices.
