I always object to the idea of Toyota’s “perceived” reliability. Up through 2021, it’s objectively true that Toyota trucks are more reliable than others. But I agree that at this point with the 3rd gen, it remains to be seen. It’s a wildly more complicated truck, and while I strongly think it will still come out ahead of other manufacturer’s half-ton offerings (basing this on Toyota’s track record and manufacturing principles), I’m not sure it will reach the longevity that the previous 22 model years were known for.

It looks like at this point, the idea that Toyota thinks they’re going to have to replace those turbos is not reflected in their 10-yr warranty prices.

I like the raptor , I’m looking at a leftover 2021 Pro , there 60k for one near me , seems to be a lot of dealers with leftover 2021’s .
I Like the Raptor , body is like a beer can , we use F150 as a fleet vehicle for construction and the aluminum body is piss thin metal , every truck looks like a golf ball … covered in dents .
If you protect your raptor your baby your fine , if you use it as a DD the bodies are a little flimsy IMO .

Their pro's price has caught up with them, not the truck, As far as what you get.

So, out of curiosity, I checked with Carvana, and my 2021 TRD Pro is currently worth $60K to them (I have the most basic Pro with no options, about 2000 miles). This, of course, means they'd probably sell it for $65K.

While it does sound crazy that my truck is worth almost $6k more than its original MSRP, it makes the $68K for a brand new 2022 not seem out of line. Definitely seems like Toyota priced in inflation.

What was your 21 Pro's MSRP? The problem isn't the price relative to the previous gen 2.5 TRD Pro, Toyota pricing and current inflation market. The problem is that the price is not competitive compared to the competition. The TRD Pro is on the level of a F150 Tremor, Silverado Trail Boss or Ram Rebel. The problem is that it's priced similar to a ZR2 Silverado and Ford Raptor, both of which have more advanced features than the 22 TRD Pro and compared to those two it's inferior and a worse value.

    Powerwagon starts at 57k....
2500 ram with cummins in laramie with airbag suspension is 69.
I'd rather have either of those(prefer the power wagon)

I also like the custom trail boss with the 6.2.. It's 48,000

    MSRP was $54K and change...

I understand what you're saying with comparative models, but that's been the case for quite a while. Feature wise, competitors were always better optioned for the price points. I thought long and hard when I purchased mine as a Ram Rebel, fully optioned out, was pretty much the same price as my TRD Pro once I negotiated on the price. (And yes, that was a year ago, so things have changed in that area too..). I chose the Toyota just because I am planning on keeping it for quite a while and the electronics in the Ram had me worried.

It seems that there is a tax for the perceived reliability of the Toyota brand.

$69k for a Laramie Cummins, where? When I was shopping for a Ram back in May of last year they were all $10k above the gasser Laramie which was already just under $66k

comparing MSRP of both. Can't compare dealer mark up since not all dealers participate in scumbaggary.

my buddy has a pro deposit at MSRP with the same dealership my limited build at MSRP is with, he placed a deposit $500 back in september and is first in line for a pro. However the 5.5 bed is a deal breaker for him, he intends to take delivery, drive the pro and order a 2023 1794 6.5 bed OR.

something tells me when he sells the pro after 6-12 months or so he won't be losing any money. the fact is the pro is expensive for what u get, but people want it and the price will remain higher than other trims in the aftermarket.

Same here. Right now my 2007 is more than sufficient for me.

The more I consider the pricing of the new Tundra, the more I begin to value the money it costs to buy the truck more than the truck itself. Particularly the TRD Pro, which will be $70K once it has a tonneau cover and a few other minor accessories. Sorry Toyota but I don’t see $70K worth of value there. I know some will chime in about resale value on the Pro, but I keep vehicles a long time so that isn’t a real benefit for me. Besides this current madness that has vehicles appreciating in value is not sustainable, and it will end. Boy when it does it will be incredibly ugly.

It sure will be. A lot of people rolling over loans to new vehicles and continuing to be underwater pretty much indefinitely.
I will be watching from the sidelines as people who bought houses and trucks in this market get the wake up call when interest rates start rising.

    @68rs75z28

    Damn right.

We have been waiting for an opportunity to buy a vacation home/rental, and a correction to the current market idiocy along with a steep increase in interest rates would work perfectly for us. Bring prices down to a better value, and eliminate competing buyers that will need to finance.

A lot of shit for sale right now is just wishful thinking, but as dumb as buyers are right now maybe you get a big payday on a dump.

I have noticed land itself isn’t too crazy, but put a habitable structure on it and prices are incomprehensibly stupid.

Right now buyers who find their legit forever home or property will be OK. Interest rates are low so a big mortgage can be serviced, and in 15 years they’ll be back ahead on property value even after a correction to the current market. It’s the flippers and short term owners who need to hold short term and get out of it who are going to get screwed. Frankly I’m OK with them getting screwed.

That's what sadly dawned on me today.

And forget the pro, even worse just a base Sequoia with the iforce max is probably going to sticker well over $60,000 if they follow the same price increase.

I start looking at tahoes and expeditions but I think I'm just going to make my GX460 work a few years longer.

The only thing I can think is that Toyota is adjusting their pricing and dealer incentive model to be closer to the big 3. So perhaps in a normal market they will now have $10k-$15k of room in them and you will be able to get twelve grand off on a Tundra just like a Silverado or an F150 instead of the smaller discounts we've always seen from Toyota.

This a now the "normal market" and will continue to be ...as long as idiots are willing to pay these ridiculous prices, the dealerships love it and are making more profit now and selling less volumes...

Same. Bought my 2020 SR5 CrewMax with TRD Offroad Package, Blackout Package, SR5 Upgrade Package, and a few other packages for $41.7K, I think - nd that included a lifetime (a TRUE lifetime) engine warranty plus $200 in free stuff from Toyota.

I like some of the '22 builds, but to get the cheapest one I'd actually want/need to use, I'd have to pay an extra $10K above what they'll give me for trade-in. No way in hell am I going to do that when my '20 is within $800 of being paid off.
