Lol go figure. I never saw that info for the normal release but it was in the capstone specs like it was special . just reinforces that it isn't special.

I’m confused why a hybrid is getting better hwy mpg then vs city mpg??

Probably because in a 6200lb brick the electric motor can’t really run the truck by itself. In stop and go traffic the ICE still needs to be involved, the hybrid helps but doesn’t make up for the sheer mass of the truck.

Truck is still more efficient at highway speeds, and the extra weight costs 1MPG vs non hybrid.

Not sure if the F150 uses the same hybrid system but they are rated 24 city and 24 hwy, 24 combined…… I know the F150 is a bit lighter due to most of the body parts being made of aluminum, but still doesn’t make sense too me for a hybrid to be rated worst at city mpg vs hwy, I believe the tundra hybrid goes full electric in 18 MPH and less

Well the Ford F-150 PowerBoost uses a lithium ion battery pack which saves a bunch of weight, and the electric motor in the F-150 replaces the torque converter completely eliminating the parasitic loss of a torque converter.

But what's it rated for, 15? So realistically, if you got a third gen, you'd probably get 17, rather than 21.

Nope this is a 3rd gen. To be fair my daily commute is 3 miles with 400’ of elevation change. I’m happy with highway mileage but these thing drink a lot on any incline or getting up to speed.

Ya it’s fun to feel the boost on occasion. But unless you’re on the highway it’s not very exciting. Putting the foot down to get to 30 is pretty lame. I’m pretty sure the only time this truck isn’t in boost is when it’s cruising around 55.

    damn, thats disappointing.

I haven't test driven one yet, I guess I was expecting the boost to kick in and put you back in the seat

Look Hex, I realize your not a fan of mine. Just block me dude. As for what I said. It is correct. And just so you can see a Tundra Platinum comes NOT all body colored and HAS shiny chrome. See below. Night and day difference from the new and much better looking IMO Sequoia platinum.

F150 Powerboost has a torque converter. The biggest factor to fuel economy is weight based on how EPA categorizes each vehicles weight. They go in 500 lbs intervals. You can look it up in their test data (Google search “epa test data”). F150 Powerboost 4x4 is tested at 6000 lbs and Tundra non-hybrid 4x4 is also 6000 lbs… so Tundra hybrid should be tested at 6500 lbs based on it’s weight (curb weight + 300 lbs is between 5751-6250 lbs for 6000 lbs equivalent weight and between 6251-6750 lbs for 6500 lbs equivalent weight).

I find it interesting that Toyota said this because I’ve seen videos of the iForce Max cruising at higher speeds with the engine off. I think they probably mean you can accelerate up to 18 mph with electric only. But I think the engine turns off in coasting and you can cruise in electric only at some higher speeds. For example, my buddy’s powerboost can maintain 35-45 mph easily in electric only.

Sorry, 1794 is the styling they used. I misspoke. Still, it's not like that styling isn't available in Tundra. You made it seem like the Sequoia received different styling when it doesn't.

"It had no chrome. All black and body color." when describing the Platinum Sequoia is an adamantly false statement. It has a dark chrome grill and multiple chrome accents.

100% True the New Tundra prices are interesting in the fact that they are higher than I thought they would be. I knew there would be an increase but didn't think it would be where it is now.

Interesting video. I suppose I assumed dealers had larger profit margins than this. I'd be interested to see it confirmed that all his info is accurate

what that video doesnt tell you is that independent of the MSRP vs Invoice, the dealers get a set amount of money from Toyota for simply moving a vehicle as well. Granted it isnt anything to write home about, but when you are dealing with small margins, it makes a difference for them.
