I don’t know how much the invoice was, but I doubt it was close to 15k off. I don’t know about other dealers but Everett gmc is a volume dealer and 12 to 15k off was normal there before the supply problem. Even more off for the high trims. Even now, they are advertise if at 1 to 2k off. Tundras we’re not as high as the other 3 to begin with, so the lack of huge deals kinda offset it. But now that tundras are up there with the rest, let’s hope dealers start dealing more.

I am not sure what world some of you are living in thinking that all Trucks from every manufacturer isn't priced significantly higher in 2022 than it was in 2020. The Ford raptor I just priced and ordered at the dealer for my son was over 88k with out the dealer markup and other charges. By the way those of you who think the raptor is some super Truck that you can just go runwide open in the desert stock like a trophy truck really have never owned 1. Our last Raptor had to have serious mods that cost just as much as our Tundra TRD pro to get it to perform in the desert. Mid travel stock trucks suck in the rough western deserts. ALL stock trucks have to have their uca, lca, struts, steering racks, bumpers etc replaced before they can be really high speed desert ready and even then that only gets you into the little stuff. The big stuff u will need to spend 5x the amount and cut up your pretty mall crawler if you think u can stay within 5 miles of our pre runners or utvs. The new Tundra we ordered will be much better than our old ones in so many ways. Tunning that v6 turbo will fun.

Also the new refreshed at4 starts out at 60k, which is already well equipped. Dealers around me aren’t adding any mark up either. I’m sure yours will be more loaded tho. I see it will be available in the the desert sand color for 22. Looks good on the colorado, curious to see what it will look like in the Sierra.

Yeah I don’t really want to deal with a 3/4 ton truck, but it’s an example of what is possible for TRD Pro money.

Although rumors are swirling about the 2023 6.6L Duramax bringing a bit over 500hp and 1085ft-lbs to play with. Unfortunately the dang thing is so long it would be an extremely tight fit in my garage and I really don’t need that much truck.

The “base” Raptor comes with Leather, Heated/Cooled seats, Nav with a huge screen, all safety equipment, Fox live valve shocks, 35 inch tires which a Pro doesn’t have, etc etc etc There is no such thing as a “stripy” Raptor

I think the 1500 market is a terrible buy right now and perhaps so going forward as well. 1500's are like the crossover SUV's of the truck world. Enough capacity, enough capability, and just enough luxury to satisfy a majority of buyers. It's the goldilocks but becoming a worse and worse value as time goes on. It's getting harder to find a 1500 truck that isn't $55-$60k starting. Toyota doesn't discount their trucks much and they've made it quite evident that they like to add $5-$8k worth of packages to every truck they sell. I think once the truck market normalizes in 2-3 years the value of the Tundra will decrease dramatically. Domestics will start offering $10-$20k in rebates & incetives and whatever small discount Toyota offers on the Tundra won't make it so appealing. I'm likely going to be able to build a RAM 2500 Laramie or GMC 2500HD AT4 diesel for less than a Platinum or 1794. Size isn't an advantage for 1500 trucks now either, a RAM 2500 CrewCab 6.4' bed is 238" long and a Tundra CrewMax 5.5ft bed is 233". Do the math if you opt for a Tundra CrewMax Longbed. Toyota's advantage previously was the ole reliable 5.7L V8 and cost. The value aspect has not transferred over to the 3rd gen Tundra and reliability remains to be seen.

The cost of trucks has turned me off on buying one now but in a few years when the market settles down I'll be interested in looking. If I'm going to spend $60-$65k for a truck it's going to be an HD. 1500 level trucks, no matter the brand, is a hard sell for me at that price.

Rumor has it is that Toyota is going to build a Raptor "fighter" similar to the SEMA truck they built. It's obvious that they've admitted a few things with that rumor. 1) The TRD Pro is an inferior vehicle to the Raptor at Raptor pricing 2) The true Raptor fighter is going to cost $80-$100k.

Seventy thousand dollars for a half ton truck with an appearance package.
    Hard pass!

    That's $30K more than I paid for my 2020 SR5.

This! I bought my 2019 SR DC for $35k and turned it into a poor man’s TRD Pro. Only thing it didn’t have was the stamped bed side and leather, but underneath was the exact same truck.

Not sure when (or if) this insanity is going to end, but it’s the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in the auto market in my not so short lifetime!

I actually went to a GMC dealer in November and built a 2500 AT4 with the Duramax equip the way I wanted and MSRP out the door was $76,000 just spoke with the dealership yesterday that truck has still not made the production line dealer said they’re not sure what’s going on it’s not just Toyota

After deciding I didn’t wanna pay that much for a truck I went to the half ton route. I tried building similarly equipped trucks with the big three build sites and nothing came close pricewise equipped like the 22 tundra that I ended up buying at MSRP. The 22 Sierra 1500 AT4 was 81 and change with at least a 3 month wait. Also some options are being excluded by GM because of the chip issue.

Yeah endlessly printing money has consequences. Here we are and I'm afraid it's only going to get worse.

So barring an accident I plan on making the 2020 last as long as possible. Who knows? I may not be able to afford another truck (or want to) after this one if things keep going this way, even a used one. Time will tell.

While the Captstone prices are really high (this wasn’t a trim we had before) and TRD Pro caught up to other competition the SR5s really are similar to what they were before. Cloth seats SR5 Sport is $49k, used to be around $47k for a similar SR5

About a month ago I had a ram dealer give me a quote for a Ram 2500 4x4 CC with the 6.4 engine. It was a Big Horn that had a lot of options. The MSRP was 57,706 and they would sell it to me for 51,646.
This price included everything except taxes. This was going to be on an order.

Here’s my final verdict on the Capstone pricing (not that anyone cares lol) for an extra $1k you can get a ford limited with massaging seats, hands free driving technology, an onboard generator, under seat storage, better mpg, and terrible reliability. Honestly I think the Fords a much better option. I’m gonna be getting a 1794 hybrid as i think it’s priced better

I think across the board the Fords offer more. It's really just a question of how much you value perceived reliability and how long you plan on owning the truck.

One thing I like to consider w/ reliability is the cost of warranty and the warranty available.

    Toyota 10 year ~ $1500
    Ford 8 year ~ $3000

So cost of Ford is extra $1500 plus (assuming you sell at end of warranty) you get 24 less months of ownership out of the cost

Then you have to consider how the time in the shop will upset you, but that has no cash implications just mental (you get a loaner)

Wow. If that’s true, Ford’s yearly warranty cost is 250% that of Toyota’s ($375/yr vs $150/yr), and it’s shorter.

Ford knows they’ll be doing more warranty work than Toyota.
