Just ordered these this afternoon. @TRDFerguson I chose these only because they are very close to the OE design with an upgrade in materials. The set you pointed me to are, in fact, very cool and offer better protection but I don't do the serious offroading that you guy do. Trailer pulling pavement queen for me.
    Thanks for the help guys!

Mine did that, but when I was installing it I found that the board itself was installed backwards, so once it was popped out and flipped it around, it stayed in place.

If you have installed yours, have you tested your red lights and white lights? I couldn’t get mine to do half on each side that’s what started the whole trying to figuring out what was wrong, and this fixed my board staying in place issue at the same time.

I didn’t think to flip it around so I just put some glue on it. It did work half on each side while it was installed. Map lites are in and just went to check them out in the dark, holy crap they’re too bright. They angle towards your face and blind you. We’ll see if I get used to it, otherwise gonna have to figure something out. The red is nicer than I fought it was gonna be though.

Finally finished a project I’ve had in the works for a few weeks. My factory running boards were looking pretty rough. The metal was all scratched up, and the plastic was faded. I actually really like the running boards because they’re nice and wide for my dog to use, and they are low profile and look pretty decent (Toyota calls these “Stealth” running boards). Since I didn’t want to spend $800 on some rock sliders, I decided to try a new approach with my factory boards. Here’s before photos:

    12C98DF7-03DB-446B-A118-DBB348D82730.jpg

Turns out these boards are stainless steel (I thought they were chrome plated), so I got to work disassembling them. Pulling off the plastic step pieces was a colossal pain in the ass. Once I got them off, I dropped off the boards and brackets at a local powder coating shop. Then I cleaned the plastic step pieces with degreaser, scuffed them up, applied adhesion promoter, and then three coats of Raptor bed liner spray.

    CC90FEA8-D7D2-4E39-B55B-37107DD5FAD9.jpg

Got the boards back from the powder coating shop after a few days.

    8A9CB7E1-77C2-49C5-B54A-AF415696E8DD.jpg

And then started the process of reassembling (another colossal pain in the ass).

    21CAC445-BA00-4FC9-ABE8-B8A3FE23A9F2.jpg

And here’s the final product! I’m quite happy with it. Kinda makes me want to get rid of the rest of the chrome…

Even torqued the bolts to the proper foot pounds  (17 lbs). All told it cost me around $200. Not too bad, and good looking results.

By the way, if you’re even thinking of doing this, don’t. It was a huge pain in the ass and way more trouble than it’s worth. Just buy some new ones

Got rid of the 20’s the previous owner put on, hoped I would have saved 20 pounds per corner but in the end only saved about 9 per. Motegi mr149 17x8.5+18 with 285/70x17 tires.

Could not find a balancing weight anywhere, drove smooth as glass up to 80mph I guess that indicates a balanced setup but not sure how tirerack achieved that with no weights?

I'm local to you and I'll take your black handles if you still have them. My father in law has chrome handles and would prefer black.

Do you want chrome mirror covers?

I have some chrome handles that I removed from my truck long ago, and they are in great shape. You can have them but you'll have to pay for shipping.
