Somehow I sense this build is more reliable than the original Osprey.

Whatever happened to the kid that sucked water in his engine then grenaded the front diff? Genuinely curious how that all turned out.

Interesting relocation for the side view mirror. Must be to keep an eye on his rims vs the traffic so he doesn't scratch something that's worth more than his car.

Them old jap and euro cars had mirrors up there. If i’d ever painted the nova i was going to move the mirror to the passenger fender.

TE72s are worth so much money anymore. It's just crazy.
And as previously stated, Japanese cars of that vintage oft had 'wing mounted mirrors'.

I like my windy app. Its fairly accurate around me, dunno about everywhere. It seems to average temps more, the cold gets a little colder, and the heat gets a little hotter.

someone’ll have to test me sometime where they have on the ground measurements. Cause it says 53* and my thermometer says 53*.

Guys, why am I seeing holes in the door for where it would mount on most cars, or is that something else?

(Edit: I added a link in next reply)

I saw one of these older SR5 hatchbacks the other day and had a little warm fuzzy. Friend of mine had one in high school that was lowered far enough it'd kick up road reflectors while changing lanes. Not even remotely safe, but gas efficient, manual trans, and tons of room.

My first car was a ‘68 opel kadette rallye.

(Like this, but bought for $370 in ‘99)
I was more than halfway into a FED tube chassis when my mom sold it at a garage sale in ‘01. Sold it for $1000 and paid $1000 for a gaudy 80’s dining room set. She also sold the dog leg 401 amc i had for my comanche. Shes going to a cheap retirement home.

The nissan above hit home hard.

my rallye badge must be in the shop with the brightwork and glass.

I always wanted a front engine rail. Not to race, just sit in my shop and drink beer and stare at it.

If you're in southern LA, why not a hotrod fan boat?
Or has that lost its novelty?

Well, how's y'alls day going so far?

Oh, me? I went to go drop off a pile of styrofoam and help a friend recycle his TV. He had me swing by the bottle shop to buy some beer after. My reward?

Well, I heard a HISSSSSS start about 2 blocks from the store. Walk in, walk back out, and ... Gotta pull to the back of the lot to take care of this. The marks are from me limping to an empty part of the lot.

    upload_2022-2-1_15-5-18.jpg

No problem, right? Except, oh wait, the last jackass who torqued on this wheel over-tightened and ... guess how I'm spending the rest of my afternoon?

    upload_2022-2-1_15-6-9.jpg

But wait, the hits don't end there. I get my spare tire down, and I'm 90% positive this is the original spare, from the dealership and/or factory. Note the stripey sticker on the rubber at the stem, and barcode on the steel - this is after 4 rounds of Bleche Wite to get the tire black-ish. (I've been meaning to get a matching spare for a while now).

    upload_2022-2-1_15-9-25.jpg

And what is it that may've done me in, you ask? Surely for a drain that fast it must've been serious eh? Last thing on the planet I would've EVER expected. Some jackass' sidewinder key chunk, looks like maybe VW/Audi.

    upload_2022-2-1_15-10-12.jpg

And with that, my sorry ass is off to get a couple wheel studs and find someone to patch my tire, from the inside, I hope.

Did you not see when I posted a photo of my OG spare from 2002? That wasn't reason enough to get a current spare for yourself?

Oh, and T2's dad's OG spare blowout as well.

I take it that's a 16" steelie, hence the delay while you shop for 5x 17's?

As the kids here at work would say, "It be like that sometimes."

    It's Tuesday.
You can't be more than 3 days into 'this week'.

Chin up! It's bound to get better!
If not, call in sick tomorrow and go to the beach.

I was thinking about @Tundra2 the whole limp ride home. And not sure on the steelie, I guess I should've checked eh. It's going away soon. And now I have an excuse to blow money on new tires, my better-3/4 won't give me shit after watching me repair this today.

That was my comment at the parts counter. "It is what it is..."

Done. We're back up and driving again.

Ouch. I don't think you have to remove your brakes to pull the studs, so that shouldn't be too bad.
