Can I assume it’s because you have expressed an interest in it at the dealership so they are now reaching out, mainly for allotment requests?

 

You assume correctly. I was pretty set on wanting a hybrid and was leaning hard towards a TRD Pro. The thought of them claiming their allotments or however it works for the Toyota dealers crossed my mind as a reason for the call as well.

For those that may have interest.
From my research last month dealers are making about $6000 on a Limited Crewmax model 5.5 bed before options.
MSRP has not changed; but if by chance you are looking to trade in a prior gen Tundra, those prices are up yet again.
So dealers have $6k to play around with on the contract as far how the final numbers look.

Thanks for the link and info. That didn't give me long to speculate at all and I'm pleasantly surprised that the MSRP came in below what I was guessing.

 

Yeah it was right in the middle for my guestimates (TRD PRO), they're actually competitive with the Lariat Powerboost which is what Im also looking at. With X Plan, a fully loaded powerboost lariat is 73k, after a levelling kit, wheels, and tires, maybe 76, which is damn close to the TRD Pro. Lots of thinking to do.

If you are member of the APA or CarHelpCanada they also provide dealer cost.
so fwiw - Just because they are not moving off MSRP - if you are double ending a deal - meaning their getting your trade in as a well you buying a vehicle.
in this market your used vehicle is like gold and will be for the remainder of 2022.
make them work for it. force the new car manager to deal with the used car manager to come up with a "deal"
all you care about is the difference you are paying.

Welp, there's that. $60K ballpark for a half ton is already insane. $70K+ is fucking retarded, i don't care how luxurious it is. Want luxury + utility? Buy a Lexus SUV and a utility trailer, not a pickup truck. You'll be way better off.

 

I dunno. Maybe the 1/2 tons. I honestly don't pay attention to CR, it very rarely lines up with my real world experience.

 

Admittedly, that's a pretty base level 2500 I looked at. I suppose if you want to look at more off road oriented trucks, the price difference drops to about $5k.

I also wouldn't buy a GM until they get enough chips to start offering heated seats and steering wheels again.

 

FWIW I just got a standard limited model and absoletly love it. The power is great. Came from a 2016 5.0 F150 Platinum and the Tundra is much nicer in every way. Not lacking in any way from a ride quality and refinement perspective and I would even say its a fair margin better. It's also not a Ford, which I had a disastrous experience owning (never again).

So here's my opinion on it - Given that the hybrids will be much harder to get for many, many months and combined with the price premium, I'm not sure it's worth it at this exact moment. Unless you absolutely need that extra power and/or must have the TRD Pro. Otherwise it probably makes more sense to get a non-hybrid sooner and wait for a market/supply correction over the next couple years.

My dealer said they're expecting to get only 60 Tundras this year in total and 14 of them are hybrids. It has forced them to only sell locally and take care of their closest customer base. They "could sell 500 if they could get them" was one off hand comment that was made.

 

Walk in with one of these as a trade in and they will roll out the red carpet for yah.

Yeah, you never know...There's always an exception to be made in business, but I think for the most part they are presold and they're trying to keep it local to serve existing clients. Again - they're expecting to get only 14 hybrids. Thats like 2 a month for the rest of the year once they start hitting lots.

inourchased my 17 at the end of the year. I think I paid 58k. I’m trading it tomorrow for $48,500. It’s got very low km, some added extras but I’m not complaining…. Other than the fact is was 58 and now they’re 80….

 

If you have already made the deal on whatever vehicle you got, congratulations and good luck.

If you have not you should consider that the dealers these days are making $6k on base, plus profit on options and then Toyota rebates and incentives on top of that.
If you have a top of the line 2017 they are going for $50k with normal mileage.
If yours has low mileage mileage it is worth alot lot more. Just saying.
When dealers are selling at MSRP they are happy to make $2-3k on trade ins.
With low kms a dealer would be selling this 2017 Platinum for $55k +.

Yes, but the article also says 'projected' so it may not matter if tthe vehicle is even on the road yet or how much real world experience there is.

 

I was on ebay and looked up 22 Tundra's for sale. I saw a 22 Platinum that is lifted, Ridge Grappler tires, 22" wheels and power running boards for $84,689.00 US lol. MSRP on it was $64,989 !

 

$108,000 CAD.

 

Here's my allocation sheet. No mark ups other than the Secure Ride program which while I don't think will provide a whole lot of value to me, is one of those things that might come in handy. It's not like being hit for $1000 to Scotchgard the seats. When my truck actually comes in and we sit down to sign the papers, I'm going to try and have it removed again.

My delivery timeline is late May to early June.

I think it’s a tire/ rim warranty w nitrogen filled tires. I suspect it’s a corporate add on all dealers put it in ( Canada )

Hello guys, long time lurker...finally joined the board.

I am in the market for 2022 Tundra CM TRD Offroad. Have a 2021 4Runner TRD Offroad with low km (8.8k) to trade in, so, will only be paying a few k for the switch to the Tundra.

The reason I am switching is because I want to haul a camper trailer, nothing serious, 400-500lb hitch weight and 5k or so dry weight.

I am wondering whether a 2022 Tundra SR5 Crewmax TRD Offroad with 5.5ft bed or a SR5 double cab TRD Offroad with 6.5ft bed comes in real life close to the claimed 1800+ lb of payload capacity? Some guys mentioned 1400lb or 1500lb in earlier posts which shocked me. I plan on loading a 14ft or so boat onto the top of the truck and pull a 5k lb camper and I don't think 1400lb or 1500lb payload are gonna cut it for me. Everywhere I checked on the Toyota page they claim 1880 or so lb payload capacity. I am strictly speaking about the above two mentioned configurations (a. SR5 DC TRD Offroad 6.5ft bed and b. SR5 CM TRD Offroad 5.5ft bed).

Anyone who has test driven any of the above models and has checked on the door sticker regarding payload capacity?
