Had my catalytic converter cut out of my truck this morning. Need to drive 5 hrs back home after work today. The check engine light is on and 4 lo light flashing. Seems to be driving ok other than obnoxiously loud but I only drove about a mile at low speed. Did the thieves screw up something else cutting it out? Not sure why the 4 lo light would be on. Thinks it’s ok to drive the 5 hrs to get back home?

Do not drive it like that! You run a huge risk of melting the underside electronics and/or causing a fire. You absolutely have to get it towed.

I’m still working for a few more hrs, so I haven’t left yet. What a way to end 14 straight days of 12 hr shifts in a hospital…. Of course it had to happen the night before I leave

Sorry to hear you got hit.
I'm still pissed they hit me back in November.
Got me in my employer's parking lot..

When they stole mine I drove home from work, about 15 minutes.
Then drove to the dealership the next day, about 15 minutes.
Had the CE light come on going home, and then some other lights on the way to the dealership.

Don't think I would have tried driving any further than that.
Some guys at work put Magnaflow converters on their Tundras, but they have CE light issues.
More than a few have been stolen at my workplace, yet they take no responsiblity.

My Tundra has been sitting at the dealership going on 10 weeks now...
Hope you don't have to wait that long for OEM parts.

As @Tundra234 stated, I should have ordered @Classy63 Valhalla’s Shield - Catalytic Converter Theft Deterrent (valhallasshields.com) shields when it happend.
I would have had them by now, but I just ordered them Friday..

Sorry OP! That right there would be the final straw for me working to save people. I would be moving down the street to the vet clinic next week, even if it was for the janitor opening! Animals are sadly just so much better!

Sorry to hear that OP. I've been lucky so far but curious what dealership is charging you?

just have some straight pipes welded on to fill the missing converter. by some aftermarket oxygen sensors that have catalyst material in front of them and run without the cats.

Here’s the cheapest way to get home:

Unplug the wires that they left behind when they cut your rear o2 sensors. Then replace the fuse that popped. Disconnect the battery and reconnect. This will not get rid of the check engine light. But it will fix the limp mode issue.

then go to Autozone and buy some 2.5” flex pipe and clamps. Clamp on the flex pipe making it dump to the ground.

    viola!!! Performance exhaust. Lol

then, call me to work out a permanent solution. 760-877-4234

I ended up leaving my truck there it ft.worth. Didn’t have time to do any work on it as I had to get back to Lubbock to work early this morning. So annoying trying to get this fixed away from home…Thanks for the advice everyone. I already had the 8” dirty deeds exhaust. But it’s a little too loud now :)

Depends on the situation. We have multiple solutions. Sometimes the only way is at the dealer. Sometimes we can straight pipe. Sometimes aftermarket cats. Sometimes a race system.
