This morning started with disappointment. Left for work a little early so I would have time to stop at a Maverik on the way in and get a hot chocolate and something from the hot case for breakfast. Really was thinking about a super unhealthy breakfast burrito that has country gravy in it.

Arrived at said Maverik, walk in, route to the hot chocolate machine and fill a cup. Whole time I'm debating in my head if I want a burrito, or a breakfast biscuit, or should I get both and have one for lunch later? Round the corner to the hot case and..... completely empty. Barren. Cold. Not even turned on. :(

Yup. Besides, the only place that serves breakfast doesn't open until 8, and this was all before 6 AM.

I would love to live in a place where none of that crap exists. But that cold...

I have a friend who lives in Casper, and she makes fun of me during hurricane season because we close schools at the slightest sign of an approaching storm. Meanwhile y'all are driving to work in ten feet of snow and hurricane-force winds.

Casper's winds are pretty nutty. Don't get me wrong, the whole state gets its, but Casper is pretty consistently windy. I'm a 2000-3000 feet higher elevation that the actual city of Casper though, so they get a bit too hot down there for me.

You guys in FL are walking around in heat and humidity that I can't handle. It's like a deep fryer. I'd be crispy and drowning at the same time.

Well, get you a laugh at my expense then. Cooking dinner last night I did something I've been smart enough never to have done before - - rubbed my eyes right after dicing a jalapeno. It was a bad 40 minutes. At times really bad. Ball of molten iron bad. To top it all off, I was grating a wedge of romano cheese right after my eye-fire subsided, and it slipped. The currently very sore thumb knuckle that lost almost all of its skin will provide me a permanent reminder of my idiocy and carelessness.

Oh damn! Glad there's no permanent damage. If you do a lot of peppers and such I would recommend something like this https://www.amazon.com/Disposable-V...x=food+grade+gloves,aps,107&sr=8-1-spons&th=1 to keep the gnarly stuff off your hands. Much easier to remember not to wipe your eyes if wearing food prep gloves. As for the grater incident, the gloves won't help you at all.

More funny, because I have an almost full box of them. I didn't put them on until I was concerned about getting the bandage on my thumb wet.

Hey, @LarryDangerfield, I have a question about your Outback Wilderness. Several actually.
    1. What's the insurance like on it? I know, lots of factors, but just having a ballpark idea helps. If you are willing to share info on those factors it would be appreciated, too.
    2. How is it for comfort? Would a long drive (8-10 hours) be ok in it? Better or worse than the Tundra?
    3. What has your real world MPG been like?
Of course, feel free to PM is you don't want any of this blasted publicly, especially the insurance factor stuff.

Think definitely needs a rinse, but looks pretty good. RW = Rock Warrior, right? And RW was basically like the Pre-TRD Pro? Never really looked at Tundras until 2019. :sorry:

I'm 26 years old and have never been pulled over or gotten a ticket. It went down ever so slightly from how much my Tundra was. 100% honesty I actually don't know what that figure is because I'm on my parents insurance and I just toss them some cash each month lol. Comfort is definitely better than the tundra. I've done several 6-9 hours driving days and I'm sure it's a combination of several things but the major factor is the fact that it is a power adjustable seat so I can fine tune it to my body and how I feel. I've never sat in a Tundra with a power seat so I can't compare. The real world MPGs is an interesting topic. When I'm doing my normal life routine of remote starting heading to work and remote starting heading home from work mixed in with some short errand runs the gas mileage is terrible. Like if I do an entire tank of nothing but short trips and idling it gets like 14ish mpg (obviously this figure would be better in warmer months.) That being said, a long drive with the cruise set at 61 I get 26-28 mpg. If I bump up to 71 it gets about 23.5. 80 is about 22. So day to day life it's not a giant improvement over the tundra but on road trips it's significantly better than the Tundra. Any other questions I'll gladly answer them all

All good info! Thank you! I'm just kind of toying with the idea of a second vehicle someday and trying to find a fun but practical option. I was looking at Teslas, Chevy SS, and other sport sedans, and then I rolled back around to the Subie. It's about $10,000 cheaper than anything else I was eyeing. Sure, nowhere near as fast, but definitely more versatile and with 9.5 inches of ground clearance it would be drivable in the winter snow too. Can't find anything that would beat it, honestly.

All this is pie in the sky, as I have other things that are higher priority. Still, fun to shop around and dream.
