You preheat the cab, do as much as you can do inside and rethink anything that involves open door, lol. Takes 5 x longer but hey, argent we all hooked to make our rides better? I got my tow mirrors in but I'm waiting for warmer temps before I even think of touching them.

Seeing that oil door on the TRD skid plate is making me strongly think about adding that. My next mod when I get time, alternatively, is to cut open a slot where I can access the oil filter. Cheaper, but doesn't look as nice.

I'd like to personally thank the idiot at Toyota who decided it was a good idea to make us drop the entire skid plate every time we need to change the oil. Its obvious that Toyota already had the engineering to make the access hatch but chose to just frustrate everyone. :censored:

Got my check engine light fixed. Had been throwing lean codes on both banks since I got it 2 months ago. Looks like the previous owner was a bad DIY mechanic. Shop replaced the fuel pump and said the pump that was in there was either some unknown brand or just the wrong model for the truck. They said I was getting some fuel pressure, but not nearly where I was supposed to be.

$800 later I'm back on the road.

Did you do this yourself? I've had one rear window I need to check...rolls down slowly, and then kind of gets a little lopsided and then stops higher than the other side. I figured the slow roll-down for the other windows was because it was -14 and crudded up from the winter...but maybe it's worth looking at replacing them?

Replaced my tailgate latch handle. The old one had a broken fastener receptacle and the remaining ne gave out last week. Good as new now. Went with the dealer part. Spent 40.00 more than online alternatives but I know it's not a knock-off passing as oem . Plus I got it same day.

    Some.
Deck seals installed on roof. Tomorrow, I'll start running wires through them. Have them up there now to keep the dust out when I drive up to do my checks of the logging site tonight.
    IMG_20220128_164648.jpg
I also did some sound deadener. Tomorrow, I'll finish it up with the foil backed foam. Used Siless 120mil foil backed butyl and Siless 157mil foil backed foam liner.

I didn’t think Garmin’s still existed. You must do a lot of driving in the middle of nowhere.

Replaced the battery in my Tundra today. It's been real sluggish on cold morning starts for a month or so, and had to be jumped a handful of times. Date code on the old battery was August 2009. :eek2:

Put on Desert Eagle Cat Shield and 1/8" diamond mesh for rear , I was told some trans are heating up from solid covers in both areas. Mesh laid right up nicely. Got plate in 3 days. IMG-1626.jpg IMG-1627.jpg

What kind of area do you live in where you need to put protective shields on your cats? Or is this protection for off road purposes?

Northern IL, but have been hearing alot on news and nearby cities random thefts, just other day they stole all the cats off the buses at a school of hope ministry. For the price I just don't want to chance it, and am going to do alot of traveling this spring and summer.

Finally snuck out to the garage to install a pair of sumo springs I picked up used from a fellow tundra owner.

First impression is no noticeable change in ride quality, possibly because the springs are already worn in. The top of the sumo lightly contacts the frame with an empty bed. I do have a snugtop cap on 6.5ft bed, so that is a couple hundred lbs.

And for you warm climate folks, no comments on the rust, that's just life for us. My truck is very light on rust for being 10 yrs old in Utah.

    PXL_20220130_033850114.jpg PXL_20220130_033901824.jpg

Re-used original U bolts and set them to 80ft lbs. Thoughts on that?

It's starting to become more common around here in WI. I can't even imagine what it's like in bigger cities.

The up side is we don't have any sort of emission testing around here, so if it happens, a straight pipe would be in my future.

Yep. Alpharex. The previous owner installed them right before I bought the truck from him and I was just never a big fan of them.

but are they being sold to people who need a catalytic converter for their car, or are they taking them to a salvage/recycling yard? I’m so confused.

I wonder if the people buying these catalytic converters know that they are stolen

i live near Tampa and haven’t heard of this locally thank God

The scrap yards well know what's happening and they don't care. If they don't buy it, they not able to resell it, make any money, and the thieves just go to another scrap yard. It's sad but that's the reality of things nowadays. Can't ever have nice things.

Titanium in those cats is what I heard, or some type of metal.
