All points are true however the only yet to be seen point is higher mileage TT3.5 when you're paying 60k+ for an SR5 truck, that sucker better last for a very long time.

That being said, I love my truck. I hope to still be driving it 20 years from now.

There is no way they change the front end for at least 4 years. They're going to sell every one they make and have some mild refresh between generations. We'll see a complete front end change probably around 2035

Well I'll find out before most. My truck will be here in two weeks and I drive about 50k miles annually.

I love the gen 2s as well. I've had a bunch of Toyotas. 4 4Runners and 6 Tacomas, I think the only issue I had on all these was a charcoal canister needed replaced at 212k on one of the Tacomas.

Currently have a '21 Tacoma and looking forward to getting into a full size

I got the same response when I found mine! They asked me for long ago did I reserve the truck. And I said “I didn’t. I just walked onto the lot today haha”

Are you trying to poke the 3rd gen owners? Lol, no tow hooks, it is a sore spot with them.

"We wished the 14" screen did something else...Needs a custom background or something."

I don't understand the appeal of a giant screen. You can't load pics or movies on it or surf the web. It just removes functionality from tactile buttons and knobs. I guess it's nice if you have cameras all around your truck for off-roading. For the most part, it just seems like one more new shiny thing that isn't as useful as it is pretty to look at.

Says a guy driving a truck with a JC Whitney fake hood scoop. LOL.

The 2.5 Gen Tundra looks mildly retarded from the factory. Fake hood scoops, just pathetic and stupid.

At least the 3rd Gen’s ugly grill and air inlets are all functional.

I agree. The fact that you have to look at the screen to do much of anything on it seems to be lost on many.

I also don't like the trend toward a bunch of buttons for climate controls. I liked the old three knob setup that was common in many vehicles. I could do what I wanted to do without every taking my eyes off the road.

I think big screens are distracting more than anything. That said, the truck I have coming does have it. The good thing is that it isn't like other brands (RAM) that integrate things like climate control into it. We fortunately still have buttons for those

Wow, barely man. Pretty cool knowing it was the last few of that generation though.

I remember us talking about this. So glad I traded when I did, '18 to a '21. Both had the same thought process and jumped on it before they were gone. No way around it, sharp looking truck. Truck is playing mind games on me though, ever since you said you felt your '18 had more power I can't get it out of my head.

Bet that 2.5 outlasts all that genuine functionality.

Love the larger screens. I have the large screen Phoenix in my ‘17 and absolutely love it. So much easier to see the GPS map and directions is key.

Yep. I love my '21 but I maintain that the '18 felt like it had more pep. My '18 also got noticeably better fuel mileage too. Being a CM it would be heavier than my DB '18, but I can't imagine that's the only reason for it.

    @OHwendTrd :

You plan to keep your truck for more than 10 years to find out?

Most members here seem to cycle through a new truck every 3-4 judging by signature lines.

I’ve had my 2007 since 2007, so I’m all about long term ownership if possible. I considered a 2020 at one point, but the lack of meaningful updates and stupid fake hood scoop turned me off.

Thought of adding a pedal commander personally. Can't say much about fuel economy because I'd agree, but I added much larger A/T tires than stock within 400 miles of buying it. That may contribute to the issue.

I don’t think that most cycle through a new truck every 3-4 years but rather members fall off the forum and new Tundra owners excited about their truck join up. I know several that still have their same Tundra but no longer come here.

You're absolutely right and that's a tough question without throwing a line of BS out there. No one really knows what tomorrow will bring, gas stations could be outlawed with a few votes and a few flicks of a pen. That said, I've never enjoyed driving/owning a truck more than this one, as long as it continues to fit my need, I don't see a trade in my future.

Also, being the original owner of an extinct generation puts a big smile on my face :)

I do miss my 04 limited, had her for 13 years. Dealer gave me 10,000 for it, and than listed it for 15,900

I think November was the last month. What's funny is I bought mine while in transit, made the trade, signed all loan paperwork and drove "their" truck for about 3 weeks before delivery. Thought I was going to make a payment before taking delivery lol.

That settles it!! :D My wife said the opposite when we test drove a new '22 Limited. We've owned every generation of tundra. She really liked the visibility around the much-smaller A-pillar on the new truck. It's the little things for her.

Hey new 21's are still out there, actually a couple of reasonable ones locally too. If folks wanted the 15 year old tech and (woeful) economy they are there. Very dated, but reliable iron.
Personally walking right past 'em for my new '22.
