My truck had some work done recently. I either had to drive my wife's van or be taken places by someone for a week or so. After getting my truck back, I was driving it and man, I missed it. Driving it felt good, may not makes sense, but it made me realize it felt like a broken in pair of boots, or and worn in pair of jeans. Riding in a good truck was like a reunion with an old friend. It is hard to beat these 1st gen tundras.

Yup, I want to keep investing in it and repairing or restoring to drive it as long as I can. Have never bonded with another vehicle like this truck. They are special.

This was my first Toyota and my first truck. Had a few SUVs but no pick 'em up truck. This forum has taught me that I scored a gem with an '06 with 83K miles. I'm going to stay on top of the maintenance like a hawk. I hope to get at least 15 years out of this truck.

I know the feeling. My son’s Tacoma is always parked behind my Tundra so I mainly drive it for running around town and such. However, I make a point to drive the Beast at least once a week to keep it in use. Each time I take it out, I crank it up hearing the rumble of the TRD duels, warm up and then ease it out. Every time it feels like I’m easing out the old ‘66 Mustang show car I use to have. What a feeling.

Guilty. My wife laughs at me usually jumping in the '05 instead of taking the '21 DC. After 18 years and a lot of the 288k miles spent on fishing trips and outdoor adventures, the '05 is a trusty old friend. (But it is nice to have the '21 when I have a trip with the wife.)

Sheesh that’s brand new! 185k yesterday on my ‘10, fully expect to have this truck for 500k miles. Even if the tranny or engine goes, I’ll probably replace it. The Thomas Rhett song “That Old Truck” applies for sure. Some of the lowest points in my life, I’ve escaped in this truck. Some of the highest, this trucks taken me there.

Apologies for invading the 1st Gen forum:rofl:

I like that guys with newer trucks still like to drive their older 1st gen. I have some nice newer boots, but have one pair that are old and broken in, maybe broken down that just feel right.
