Are the square-U bed tie downs universal?

Are the square-U tie downs found in the front and rear of Toyota pickup beds universal?
ie. Can I salvage a couple square-U tie downs from most any Toy pickup bed, including the mounting bolts, and expect them to fit my '04 Tundra bed?

I'm missing my 2 front tie downs in my '04, access, 4.7, 4X. Truck came that way a few months ago when I bought it used.

My former 1/2 size '94 Toy (no model name) pickup which had the same, in my memory, tie downs, sold before I got my Tundra, so didn't have the option of switching out from it if they had fit.

Anyone have a couple of these square-U tie downs with attachment bolts for sale or give away?

    Me, SW WA.

The Tacoma ones are just a tiny bit different. I wanted to swap mine out with Charvonia ones. If someone can mill my fancy ones, I’ll gladly give away the oem set.

Neighbor does have a press, it's on the list but hasn't bubbled up yet. I think some precision milling would be better than a hand drill.

You just need a step bit ("unibit")

    I get it, but it's still a truck, and it's just a tiedown ;)

Is it just the base hole that needs to be opened up, or does the pocket area as well (where the bolt or allen head is)?

Me thinks if I had those square-U tie downs, I'd attempt to spread the U open that 1 mm, rather than remove any metal.

Oh wait. I just realized, the rusty ones aren't the ones @daveeasa is wanting to install. I just noticed the black ones from the pic are under the rusty ones and are what he's referencing being off.

    Context is everything.

Anyway, the hole in the bottom looks waaaay girthier than the one in the base. Still think a stepbit from behind would do the task invisibly.

Yeah I want go replace the rusty trombonists hooks with the fancy aluminum ones.

Clear and coherent I am not. Sorry.

I might need to remove material for the Allen socket head as well as the threaded portion to get it to fit.

I did a reasonable ugga dugga at first and I’m quite confident that will result in cross threading at best if not actual sheering on the bed sheet metal. The hooks are beefy.

I think one drill bit size bigger or (better still) an oval hole by precision mill is the best plan.

I figured I’d take them to my brother in law’s machine shop this summer, seems like a reasonable project to accomplish without massive effort.

I think you just need a specialty fastener to make it work. Pretty sure it'll be the 2nd one in the top row here.
