Starter location on 2007 4.7? I've looked on the truck an on the internet. I found out the 5.7 is on right side behind the heat shield. I found on the earlier models 4.7 is under the intake but nothing confirmed on the 07 4.7. I searched the forums also mines not bad yet just trying to get educated on the subject. I just got educated on the garbage secondary air pumps and valves. Took mine to the dealer and missed the extended warranty by 2 months. By pass module is on the way. Any help would be appreciated.

It isn't horrible to swap out. Don't let the internet make it sound like doomsday. Now it isn't as easy as swapping a starter on a classic Chevy, but I would say 95% of the people on this forum could do it. The other 5% would be to physical ailments that wouldn't allow them to perform this job.

Yeah im sure your right. I did the spark plugs this weekend and found out the secondary air valves had to be moved to get the back 2 on each side. Just watched a video on the water pump and timing belts. Think that i'll leave to a professional because if it's not right i got somebody to blame. Lol.

Funny, I feel the same way. Timing belts are easy to do (imo), but why bother when Toyota offers to do it for a reasonable price. Last one I had done was in my 2000 Tacoma, and it was 425.00 to have it replace. It was worth it to me.

For that price price heck yeah. I've heard upwards of a 1000 including the starter. Hopefully it will last till 200000. I"m at 103000 now.

my starter went out 2 weeks ago on my 07 tundra with 5.7. it went to the dealer and was covered by the used warranty, thankfully. from what I'm told the starter has a heat shield around it, then the exhaust header wraps around that, and both have to come off to get the starter out. I have 2 service tech's pretty pissed at the truck and hope not to see i t again. mine has 126k on it... i asked the service manager, and he wouldn't give me the final cost, but when i asked him if it was over $900, he said higher... the truck was towed, took two days, had to wait for the starter, that cost $235 and they gave me a rental... a 2014 chevy spark
