    Hi all!

New member here (Hi Everyone!) with a 2014 Tundra 5.7L Limited TRD Pro - 86k miles - new to me since May last year. I've been searching around the forum and can't seem to find anyone with my issue so I thought I'd film it and see what everyone thinks!

Long story short: every time I accelerate from a slow speed/stop there is a noticeable whine/grind coming from mid engine. You can hear it on this crappy video I made right at about 3-4 secs in (sorry for the blinker): https://youtu.be/LsW2G-e4hJU

So for a few more things:
    - I already made an appt. with the dealer to have a looksee but they can't get me in until mid-Feb
    - Can't replicate the sound in park - Truck must be moving
    - It is consistent as of about a week ago - right between 2000-3500k RPM
    - It happens in 4Hi and 4Lo as well and if I am turning or not
    - Seems to be worse in cold weather but still happened on the warmest day here - happens with any accessory on, all accessories on, or no accessories on

    Random bits:
    - I replaced the MAF sensor and cleaned the throttle body about 6 months ago
    - Serpentine belt was replaced before I bought it and doesn't seem to be at play here
    - I rechecked all hoses, air filters, anywhere I could think for a vacuum leak but didn't find anything apparent

    Things I am thinking:
    - Clutch/radiator fan?
    - Water pump?
    - Transmission? (nightmare fuel but I honestly don't know what the folks did with it before I had it for the first 85k miles)

Anyways, thanks for looking and for having me here in the forums! Looking forward (maybe) to everyones thoughts/ideas and will try to update when i hear back from the dealer.

    Too many, but not enough....
Are you sure its coming from the engine bay? Do you have skid plates? Have you checked driveshafts?

No skid plates - pretty sure to almost positive its the engine bay- drive shaft and axle shafts LOOK fine but then again I don't really know - I don't have a lift or anything to really check them thoroughly. I'm not getting any shuddering/shaking/vibrations though. But come to think of it, it did start after a particularly icy day and that morning I heard a pretty loud clunk from the front passenger side wheel after going over railroad tracks. At the time I thought it was ice/snow getting caught up which maybe it did but messed with something up there? Not too sure but something to tell the dealer for sure... Thanks for the thoughts!

I have this same issue. Did you ever figure out what was causing yours to whine?

Does the sound oscillate with the RPMs?

    Air injection pump issue maybe?

Also…check your exhaust to see if anything is loose or like an attempt was made on your cat converters.

It's happening when I slowly accelerate from a stop. It goes away when I get on the gas and get up to speed quickly. Going to record it later today and upload so you can hear it for reference.

I am SO SORRY - my alerts for this forum were going to JUNK - i had no idea. Hopefully you got your answer but mine was a failed clutch fan - got that fixed and my MPG went way up and no more whining sounds!

Sooo... I ended up having my check engine light come on and my traction control was disabled and threw the following codes. P0304, P0300, p0302, p0308. All related to cylinder misfire. This happened on a very cold morning the day after hauling my pop up camper home. In addition, I have the p1604 code that is related to an extended crank Service Bulletin https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2019/MC-10170730-9999.pdf

The dealer reprogrammed my ECM, Installed new spark plugs, and did an induction cleaning. They said that my fuel pump needed to replaced as well but the pump is on back order and they don't know when they'll get it in. After this was performed the whine that I had during acceleration was almost completely gone.

Not sure if anyone else has this same issue but definitely nice to know the whine isn't my transmission or something worse.

OP's video sounds like maybe an intake whistle to me, check to make sure all intake clamps are installed correctly and tight. Replace the screened throttle body gasket with non-screened part number. If you switch filters or intakes to something higher flowing the whistle gets even more pronounced. Switching to screenless gasket with an AFE prodry filter made my whistle quieter and across a smaller RPM band but still present under some operation conditions.
