I was actually speaking of avoiding politics in this forum. I guess we're still allowed to gripe about government ineptitude in general!

EDIT: And I installed the OEM aluminum one Tuesday when I changed the oil. Swapping out the center tubes was much easier than can be described in words.

Which drain tool did you buy? Link please. Let us know how it works please. MotivX has been out of stock and we need a 2nd option that works well. Did you get a Fumoto valve too?

Thanks for the info. Did you know the F133 has a bigger hole to allow it to drain faster? Any reason you went with the F103?

Looks like its a tight fit for the filter, it spun on easily, but??? Any concerns at all ?

I'd also be curious to know how much oil is in the cartridge filter at filter change time? Does it spin back off as you near the last of the threads and break the seal are you treated to a wonderful and artistic cascade of oil fingers?

F103 is what my search came up with, so I ordered it. How much bigger we talking’ about? If it takes 38 seconds longer to drain, I’m not concerned. I’ll swap filters and have a beer….
This is a driveway sport. Not production.

Also, I had no idea that Fumoto would make two valves for the same application, but one is bigger. Weird. I can always return the F103 if it doesn’t fit!

Does the Baxter adapter spin off with the filter, purposefully or accidently ??

I didn't buy the Fumoto valve as its in a way redundant unless you attach a hose to it to drain into your container. I just go the usual way with that. The links are to Canadian Amazon but the parts are solid and I'm sure you can get them in the US too. Im changing oil in a week and will update. So many have recommended this setup and I don't want a shop to play around on my Tundra for a simple oil change. My first experience with my last 2012 Tundra was horrible. The shop didn't put back the skid plate properly, they broke off bolt and didnt tell me. I noticed once I was home but the damage was already done. I did the oil change after myself and I just torched a hole into the skid plate so I wouldn't need to take the skid plate off.

Another option to the Fumoto valve is this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AMXAR8O?ie=UTF8&th=1

Even though it's a few more bucks, I prefer this style. The overall valve is smaller, it has a sealing cap, and you simply connect the secondary piece with the hose already attached to drain the oil. It is, in my opinion, even cleaner and easier to use than the Fumoto valve.

Good point. I just ordered upper front shock bushings from my local dealer. I think I'll take one of the Amazon housings with me and ask if they can look at it to verify or compare to one if they have in stock.

I think on one of my other Toyotas (cough...prius), this happened. Started removing the plug and the entire housing started coming off. Been years since this happened as I'm way past the free dealer oil changes, and have been doing it myself.

This one is pretty interesting. You just push the connector in and open the valve? I do see a couple other variants of the Fumoto F133 that have short and long nipples on them as well...seems like you could easily attach a tube as well. Makes me wonder what is the better option long term - mostly what fails first? The o-rings on the cap you put back on the Stahlbus, or the seal/ball valve on the Fumoto! :bananadead:

Yeah the connector pushes in the sprung ball which is the actual sealing mechanism. Much like the Fumoto, except this isn't a typical twist ball valve. It's just a stainless ball that is sprung and holds against the opening. The connector pushes up on that once it's locked into position. The o-ring cap really just seems to be a secondary measure if anything. Over 2 years on mine so far and not a drop of unwanted oil through the valve.

Nice - those pictures help. Looks like a similar idea to the little plastic push drain tube that comes with filter replacements, except on the drain plug instead.

You may have just swayed me to German engineering!

Just curious, when you've removed that cap, have you seen any oil other than what may have run off the opening?

I hear about it happening a lot. I stopped using Amazon for anything at least five years ago, for a number of reasons.

Just recently on another forum I follow, a guy posted about how he had a Kershaw knife that he bought on Amazon years earlier and never used, pulled it out to start using it and some part literally just fell off. So he contacted Kershaw for warranty work, sent it in, and Kershaw got back to him with, "this isn't really one of our knives, it's a copy". They described what to look for. Bunch of other guys following the thread pulled out their Kershaw knives that they bought on Amazon, and a whole lot of them turned out to be fakes too.

This is more appealing to me than the quarter turn deals. I like that it requires the mated piece to drain the oil. But, for my once per year oil changes, pulling the plug isn't too bad either.

I have not noticed any oil in the cap. The primary ball seal seems to do it's job as intended.

It certainly is a bit excessive, and I don't have any quick drain valves on any of my other 3 vehicles. But it is pretty nice to have that drain with no mess while I fight with the dumb ass cartridge filter lol.

I have that same valve on my wife's Highlander as well as my Tundra, and I have seen no evidence of leaking in at least 6 oil changes. I can almost change the oil without even using latex gloves and not get my hands dirty.

Its an adapter of some type for the funnel. Not needed for our application as our oil fill tube is threaded. The adapter is more of the type with two 'ears' that kind of twist and lock.

FWIW, I used to use Amsoil and discovered that the quart bottle top is threaded like my Toyota oil fill. So I cut one to a funnel. Works great ;)

There are probably other brands that use the same size top. I know the 5-quart Mobil 1 containers aren't.

All the quart sized bottles that I have seen will screw into the oil fill.

    Link?[/QUOTE]

I posted a link to this drain valve in post #72.

That threaded funnel I don't have a link for exactly what that guy has, but it looks pretty much identical to this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08YDBV844

I don't use a fancy funnel, just a dirt cheap, large opening radiator funnel actually, exactly like this:

Is everyone using these aftermarket valves to replace the pan plug or on the filter housing like the Jowett housing?
