    A little truck history for me...keep in mind- I purchased these all used from Toyota..
    First truck purchased ever. - Mid 2k Silverado 1500 5.3....NEXT day CEL was on - took that right back and Toyota squashed the deal like it never happened.

    2nd: Nissan Titan 5.3 (mid 2K I think too) fun truck, and whoever had it before put an exhaust on it and took good care of it....ONE week into it - exhaust leak. Took that right back, and Toyota squashed that deal too.

    3rd: 2009 Tacoma TRD DCSB 4.0 in 2011. GREAT truck with ZERO regrets. I lifted it, 33's, sliders, tint, exhaust, etc etc but wanted something larger and with a V8.

    4th: Purchased a new 2012 Tundra TRD DC- Great truck! I also lifted it, 35's, exhaust, remote start, tint, de-badged, wheels, etc etc (@JC303 has it now) BUT it came down to "needing" more backseat room for the kids, a full size rear window that rolls down, and the wife wanted the sun roof and heated seats...

    5th: Traded in the 2012 for a 2014 Tundra (current) in May 2014 and we could not be happier and plan on keeping this one for eternity.

    Not nearly enough room here!
    I had an 06 Tundra DC before the 2010 I have now. The 06 4.7 V8 was great but no better MPG than my 5.7 in my 2010. I have almost 66,000 'issue-free' miles and MPG holds steady at 16-17. One thing about my 2010, I really enjoy is the Sequential Shifter. Whenever I shift into 'D' it's by accident! Along with Keith Carty's(BA Exhaust) and Chris Walton's (Spoolin Shift-Kit) there's no guessing when the Torque Converter is locked or what gear I need to grab to make sure it locks up quickly(towing or not). Transmission Techs will tell ya,"heat kills Transmissions and running around with an un-locked Torque Converter is one of THE best ways to cook one". Couldn't bring myself to buy GM or Dodge, after they cashed in on BILLIONS of dollars of Tax-Payer money, we'll NEVER see paid back.Maybe a hefty Tax-Rebate for the buyer would help but the Bailout only goes ONE WAY.:notsure: GM and Chrysler should be so far ahead of the other Carmakers that they'd never catch 'em......but they ain't.

    It was mostly about wanting all the bells and whistles, and not wanting to take the depreciation hit. For not too much more I could have gotten a stripped down new truck. Instead I picked up a low mileage one-owner DC Limited, in exactly the right color with exactly the options I wanted.

    One good test for buying a new truck=#1. How much will you pay the dealer for new truck? #2. How much will the dealer pay you back in 5 minutes after you drove it around the block? Pretty sure Toyota wins that test. The big 3 over value their trucks and then offer huge rebates/discounts. Toyota's don't depreciate near as much which makes it harder to decide new or used. I personally never buy new unless it's something I got to have now. Toyota doesn't make it easy.

    I've found a nice Certified Used 2012 SR5 DC with ~32k miles for $28k. I can get a new 2015 SR5 TRD DC for $35K. Usually the few years difference wouldn't make a difference to me and the $7K in savings would be worth it. However, since I've seen the '14 and '15s, it's hard to go for an earlier version. The interior is just much nicer imho.

    If Toyota ever comes out with a Hino diesel powered Tundra CM 6.5 ft bed, well, I'd have to seriously rethink things.

    Side note: When I was at the dealer yesterday, I didn't see a used Tundra and saw two used Tacomas. Was noon so maybe some were out for test drives. Every time I go there I get hit up by the salesmen. I respond, "Where is the diesel?"

    Not going to happen.. just put a 1VD-FTV in your tundra now fits perfect. which you can get now and do a conversion. Toyota supports that engine here in the states with parts or any other diesel toyota has made.

    I only regretted dealer choice due to fact they didn't inform me it was a flex fuel truck knowning I wanted to add supercharger since my 2014 FJ isn't getting one since Toyota lies and said they were going to make one then backed out. And now I can't have one in tundra because it's flex fuel.

    I will follow suit of Sean.

    1st: 1987 Toyota Pickup, 2WD 2.4L 22R-E, 4 speed manual. No power steering. Was so light it was quick and nimble. Couldn't put much more than 400 lbs in the bed without bogging the engine down though. Purchased for. $1500 with 150k to 200k miles on it (from uncle). Had it for 4 years. Clutch wore out so I replaced it and master cylinder. No other issues at all with the truck.

    2nd: 93 Ford Explorer, 4.0 V6, Auto, 4x4. Got it with ~120k. Lacked power. Had it for 4 years but didn't drive it too much while in College. Transmission was failing and slipping bad when I got rid of it.

    3rd: 2007 Toyota Tacoma Access Cab 4x4. 4.0 V6 6 speed manual. Knew I wanted to go back to a Toyota Truck. Was actually looking for a while for a used 1st Gen Tacoma early 2000s. Ended up taking a test drive in an 07 and loved it. Purchased new with 4 miles on it. Chose access cab because I was single at the time and wanted bed space vs cab space. If I would have purchased the double cab to begin with, I would probably still have it and not the tundra. Put a lot into it; 6" lift, 35" tires, intake, exhaust, 4:56 gears and lots more. Sold it at 85k miles. Only problems I had were battery going bad, two front wheel bearings going bad (blame was lift installer missed the wheel bearing seals), and front cv joint broke (I want to blame installer of lift on this one too).

    4th: 2012 Toyota Tundra Rock Warrior 5.7L V8. Didn't even consider any other trucks. I made my choice of Tundra before I made the decision to upgrade. Knew it would be the crewmax as I needed the room for two car seats (no second yet). Only considered a 5.7L. Had a budget so I stuck with used. Found mine on Craigslist for a great price.

    I just say where's the diesel to get them off my back. I got tired of telling them "No I don't want to trade up." Trade up to what? Fancier interior? Nothing wrong with a nice interior. I have a nice interior, Not worth paying thousands more for it in a new truck. Not much else changed. Not the first thing I think of when buying a 4X4. Interior is near the bottom of my list. I'm more into power train. Got that already.

    Thats what the prototype you seen online was. Hino engine I think it was either 6 or 7 litre turbo diesel . I want to say it surface in 2008 or around there.

    There is alot of hinos, Mitsubishi, isuzu. that are 4 litre or 5 litre (cant remember off the top of my head) pushing around 24,000 pounds daily.
