I've been having pretty luck catching fish in the Gulf. Sure isn't a shortage of newbees trying either.

I read a new article yesterday that said the 2022s are suffering from low quality manufacturing. Stuff like crooked bumpers, windshields not installed correctly that let in air, turbo issues, interior finishing being sub-par. This is very un-Toyota-ish

Things are getting pretty feisty over on the 2022+ Tundra Owners FB page.

They may know one problem but not everything. You’re right that the turbo condition is unknown but it’s leaning heavily towards just an actuator issue. So the other turbo hardware is looking like it’s ok.
that itechpost article… wow. Fucking copy paste and call it content.

Maybe. Maybe they hired the ex Boeing 737Max Engineering team...

    Agreed on the itechpost article.

Whether or not these issues are a fluke or not, I feel the quality of work across the board for most things has taken a dump. It's like people don't give a crap anymore.

oh man, the 737MAX problems show the importance of project management and communication. Software design is even more complicated that mechanical or electrical design.

I’m not but I studied engineering. I’m very familiar with the auto industry and have been working on cars for over 20 years now.

There's been sort of a "brain drain" going on for a while in legacy industries and companies.

Well you certainly aren't about to let an opportunity to ding Toyota pass.

If my '07 Tundra was 4WD, I'd do the same ... freshen it up a bit and hold on for another 3 - 4 years. As it is now, I'm waiting until the '23 MY and see if they have this stuff resolved ... and will include tow hooks. :)

Ohhhh boy.....have read this entire thread and am following it. Some comical, some interesting.

I kinda blundered right into this deal.
I was unhappy with my 2021 Taco SR5,w that gutless 3.5L hyper spin up motor (that lives up in the 4K rpm range-forget pulling ANY kind of trailer!),(owned a 2011 TRD Spt Prerunner previously) traded the ‘21 and Norton Toyota, Tulsa gave me $2k more than I paid for it.(yes, I got the KDMax tune....helped a lot, still couldn’t come to terms w that ridiculous engine TMC dropped in it)
Paid MSRP +$3000 for the Tundra SR5 4wd/4dr Blueprint...at least they give you a “protection pkg” for that, unlike Fowler OKC that bends you over for $5k “mkt adj” increase & gives you nothing).

Did hear some words about the Gen 3 Tundra “having turbo issues”, thought “but it’s Toyota, probably confined to small run of vehicles, they’ll get a handle on it.” Then I recalled my Taco experience....began to wonder.

Friend that’s a master at San Marcos Toyo told me wait til next yr. No way I was driving that Tacoma another yr. And then I started reading this thread....‍♂️

I’ve teched on MB, Infiniti while out of comml aviation(I’m an AMT 32 yrs), and found out real fast, that’s a hard way to make a buck. Thus, my respect for GOOD, auto techs grew exponentially... emphasizing good.
It’s gotten worse now, but just about every craft, trade out there is hurting for skilled, talented people. Commercial aviation is no different. Some of the kids(I’m 64) I see coming into this industry, it’s frightening how clueless, lack of initiative and the attitudes they have.

My hope is, and feel it probably is, just a bad batch of actuators that are not capable of functioning properly. Hopefully I’ll be spared this nightmare. Coming up on 5-600 mi believe....

Also, wanna say, I wkd for Boeing...was right in the middle of that MAX mess at Seattle Del Ctr. It wasn’t all Engr, they simply were told what to do(many had objections).
And Boeing is being run into the ground by McDonnell Douglas people. Everything started to go to shit in the merger(mid 90s). I also wkd the “plastic fantastic”, aka 787. Another cluster phk.... if I hadn’t been there, I’d never believed what I witnessed. Truly alarming and scary.
I’m about to retire, call it a career this summer, retiring from American.
And I’d go as far as to say, this nations entire corporate makeup has changed for the worse. Everyone I’ve talked to has basically the same pathetic story....
    “Mismanagement...clueless”

Lastly.......I don’t know who the hell is making the decisions at Toyo Motor....but they’re phkn up by the numbers & better get a handle on their entire line up, esp trucks! and FAST.
    Truly SAD.
    Fingers crossed!

Corporate America is largely broken. Years of experience in the core competency of the business no longer matter. It’s all about MBA’s and other stupid shit that result in disconnected “leaders” who don’t know or even care to know how the business works, how things are made, or how work is done.

As a small business owner I can say that small busniess can be much better, much more connected to my guys, look out for them , treat them like family and they do the same for me, aren’t going to get that from a huge company imo

I live right next to the massive Boeing factory in Everett, and my wife still works there. She's been involved with nearly every program. And as a former A&P tech, I have been watching from the sidelines the Boeing drama.
Main issue is Boeing has given up on engineering, offloaded most of it to "partners"/vendors. Boeing now operates as an investment company. Always scheming about money tricks, no thought put into engineering.

How's this relate to the auto industry?
Well, there was a time when companies like Toyota made most of their vehicles, and they owned large investments in any vendors, typically for things like headlights, radio, relays, etc. So, Toyota was always close to all of the products in its vehicles.

Now, many manufacturers use whoever to make whatever. It's not as bad as Boeing, but it's part way there.
Heck, Hyundai makes (or used to) Jeep Wrangler frames. When Honda launched the previous Civic in 2016, a supplier issue with a disconnected engine ground caused big problems...turns out the front of a Civic is partially assembled by some vendor! Blew my mind.

Investors and "young talent" get into these legacy companies and insist on diversifying the manufacturing process, and they also come up with a Tundra commercial of some nerd playing guitar in the back of a truck.

Well bought my wife a new 2022 Tundra limited and we made it a whole 88 miles before the engine light came on. Found out today it’s the turbo wastegate issue and expected wait time of at least 30 days. However dealer didn’t have any information on if the new part coming in has been fixed or if it’s the same part that will fail again down the road. As much as it sucks spending that much money on something the dealer has given my wife a loaner Tacoma till they fix our new truck that’s collecting dust in the back.

So, am I reading right here, Toyota is still--right now--delivering vehicles throwing this wastegate code?

WTF is wrong with Toyota? As a guy with a truck on order I'm f cking livid that they would knowingly deliver vehicles that this would continue to happen.
My build is scheduled for 2/14 but will likely be pushed out, hoping that's enough time to see this shit mitigated, I can't believe I'm saying this, but I don't trust Toyota at this point.

Spot-on @mountaingroan!! I'm four days ahead of you with a 2/8 build date and I'm ready to draft "conditional papers of acceptance" on my new 1794.
My dealer is still in denial.
