Totally agree, the pricing of vehicles has gone insane. But people are paying these prices so I don't see them coming down anytime soon.

We live in a instant gratification society. People want what they want, and want it now. I wouldn't want to be one of the people that paid over sticker when the values start to come back down. I used to refuse to pay msrp for a vehicle. I wouldn't pay anything over msrp if I were to buy anything right now. But right now I am just waiting out the market.

If they come back down, if i making cars and selling them at these insane prices with ease what's my incentive to bring the price down? The people you talk about in your response have messed up the market bad for everyone else.

They could be slow to come down but they could drop like a rock too. We'll see soon. The used market influences the new and vice-versa. It always comes back to supply and demand. Dealers will be huddled together with nowhere to sit or stand because when the factories catch up, they'll be pumping them out like mad and filling the lots. Then throw in some repossessions from the sea of upside-downness that was formed plus people sitting tight and not buying because the economy (which hasn't been healthy and started down back in 2018) will make them.

This video shows why you need something the tundra does not have in case you get stuck. I’m not going to mention what that is. Lol.

I like the Rivian more and more every time I see it...I am gonna have to stop watching videos on it...lol. I am hoping that the electric Tacoma may adopt some of the Rivian features, but it is Toyota after all...so I won't hold my breath.

Bought their stock and even had a deposit on one for a while - then I cancelled my order when I learned no Sirius Sattelite radio nor support for Apple CarPlay.
Bezos' billions have definitely influenced their choices.
It's a really cool truck though.

I like these guys, mostly, but my biggest gripe is they don’t normalize the tires….. so many of their off road issues are from stock tires. They should pick a standard tire, whatever it is, even if it’s a sponsor, and slap them on every vehicle so they’re really comparing truck to truck. I get that most people leave the stock tires on, but most people also don’t off road like that.

That Rivian needs a 6 foot truck bed
So much power, so compelling, so capable. 53" truck bed, WTF!

Although owning a BEV truck would conflict with my long distance towing needs, the 53" bed is the real deal killer. And it weighs 7k pounds! A 7k pound truck that's smaller than a Ridgeline

Maybe I should do some videos of my trailering misadventures. I can duplicate this attempted turnaround in a Nevada wash. Ended up backing down the wash about a mile until I could get the trailer over the bank. That was fun in an unfunny kind of way with the 4Runner. Would have been hilarious if I was watching.

Started here in a really nice peaceful spot:
    2017 Winnebago 1706fb Mesquite 2017 almost tipped over.jpg
    2017 Winnebago 1706fb Mesquite 2017.6.jpg

Thought I could get the 20' trailer turned around. Nope.

    2017 Winnebago 1706fb Mesquite 2017.2.jpg

The Michelin LTX tires did a good job in soft sand maneuvering a 3500lb trailer. Sharp rocks caused slow leaks though.

I wish the hybrid was more like the Lexus NX. My wife is looking at getting the new NX and the non hybrid numbers are 22 city
How much work did it actually do though? Looked like it drove a couple miles back on a logging road. Tested a couple tools on it and loaded it with wood and drove it a couple miles back out.

I'm working on these and the TUNDRA on the front bumper and should have them listed on my website in a week or so. I will also have the dashboard/glovebox insert decals very soon.

I watched the video. Apart from the click bait title it was a good review of his "hates".

I disliked this video. He said he hates that it doesn't have front row hooks and that he's never used one before the the same sentence. I'm sorry but you can't hate missing something you've never needed or used.

I’ve never had a wreck before ( thank the good lord) but I still like my trucks to come with seat belts just in case. I’ve also never had a flat, but I’m still glad I carry a spare just in case. Same thing with tow hooks, you may not ever need them, but when you do, your gonna tear stuff up with this truck, without them.
If you never hunt or fish and live in warm weather where it never snows and you never get off the blacktop for any reason, then you will probably be ok without them.

Maybe maybe not. I could see pulling this truck out of a ditch without destroying the front bumper. Situation dependent.

I agree, it depends on the situation. A handful of times I needed a pull, was from getting stuck in the mud, and those cases the front end is usually sunk down pretty low and in this truck ( if you could find a place to hook to) I don’t see how you could avoid ripping the plastic bumper off, pulling from an angle.

Most vehicles they get are press vehicles. They get them for a short period of time and then it goes to the next outlet. There's no way they can "normalize" tires and I'm sure there's verbage in their contract that states they can't modify a press vehicle. They test the vehicles as they get them and if manufacturers wanted the truck to do better off-road then they should equip them with the right tire choice.

Same reason they get so many upper trim models. I remember a couple years back they wanted lower end trims (SR5, XLT, etc.) and it took them months to get them, and they kept mentioning how they're working on the comparison but weren't getting the models they wanted.

or wait for these people that over paid to be upside down for so long when they get rid of it after 6-12 months cause they cant afford the added 10k, it will be loss and then we can scoop them up for cheap.

and to comment on the tow hooks in the front. for ND during the winters. 90-95% of the time that people go in the snow covered ditches, you are not pulling them out from the front or from the sides.

heck even the tow truck guys pulls everyone out from the rear since the path into the ditch is easier to pull back out of.

That's how I've done it over the years, but it would be nice to have a 'pocket' built into the bumper ends. It's just plain sensible. Slap some 3M grip tape in or the spray in grip material so you don't lose a kneecap if your foot slips off. In adverse weather would be much better than ass-sliding onto the tailgate.
