So i did a dumb thing and hit my mirror and broke the housing it goes in the glass is ok but it looks like i have to buy the entire assembly as it broke the trim around the mirror top and bottom.

You can buy the entire assembly from rock auto for $60 i think but it's aftermarket would that matter or should i just by a used assembly for $100.

I did this as soon as i got the truck home and feel like a idiot as i am used to a much smaller tacoma.

I was backing it into the garage needless to say it does not fit unless you fold the mirrors in.

It's hard getting used to driving it when your last truck was a 1998 tacoma. It feels so large. Please tell me i am not the only one.

I'd buy the used assembly if in great condition or new. The cheap knock offs have a tendency to vibrate/shake....

    Aftermarket mirrors fit just fine.

I've broken several mirrors on my truck (it's an off road thing). I've always replaced with OEM but that's personal preference... they're not that expensive and deals often show up here or craigslist.

True. They fit fine in most cases but almost always have a vibration issue at speed.

My passenger side is guilty of that but only because I've smacked it on stuff and also pulled the glass off a couple times. I don't really use it anyway :notsure:

I've heard this a few times, it's what's encouraged me to skip aftermarket

Got a set of black brand new take offs in my garage. Had tow mirrors installed before I left the lot. PM with an offer if you want to negotiate for the set.

I knocked off my passenger mirror. Toyota wanted $130 for a replacement. I have an SR5 with power mirrors, but no power fold or defrost. $130 seemed a bit steep. I bought aftermarket on Amazon for $65 and it works just fine. It came with a new gasket and fit perfectly with no vibration issues at all (20,000 miles ago). Honestly, I can’t tell the difference between the aftermarket and OEM mirror. Might be that an OEM supplier sells their “own” parts.

I think we all have a set of take offs laying around the house somewhere. Find someone local.

    Probably the extra largeness?

I bet you can find a used factory mirror here or elsewhere as some of us get Towing mirrors and have the originals just sitting around doing nothing.
