none. but plan on 1.75 in lift on front
Hello everyone.Hope all are doing well. Enjoying my ride. Have just over 2000 miles and having no issues at all. Have owned 23 Toyotas since 1976 and all have been very reliable. Tried chevy and ford and had trouble right from the start. The ford dropped a quart of oil every 900 miles right from the beginning. Ford says there was nothing wrong with the engine. I beg to differ since I traded a toyota that never dropped a quart between 5000 mile service. Had 2 Blazers that had rear seals leaking . The second one dropped 2 quarts in 3 days. Had a new Jeep that had the complete dash replaced and check engine that had bad oil sensor within 5000 miles. Hoping the turbo issue is not wide spread. Good thing is I have a dealer that gives you a lifetime drive train warranty that covers the turbo and all 4 wheel drive components. there is a 100 dollar deductible and that is it. engine failure at 300000 miles is covered as long as you have kept the service up .

Loving my limited also. The amount of people on this forum complaining is comical. This truck is superior in every single way to the previous Gen.

Can you check something for me? Does the front under cover of your engine look the same as mine? I am wondering if I am missing a panel:IMG_1845.jpg IMG_1847.jpg IMG_1846.jpg

It’s not carpet. The other side of it is a smooth composite/plastic. The outside is like a fibrous felt-like liner. Whole thing is very thin. It’s shielding, and I’d imagine that outside fiber is to dampen rocks or debris to minimize it cracking.

Still fun to drive and looks amazing. Doesn’t bother me. Probably a reason behind it from Toyota engineers.

seems like a cheap skid plate. Which I kinda get. Probably comes in all models with the auto air dam.

anything that would contact it (boulders/logs etc…) would destroy the air dam anyway so maybe it’s there to allow some sort of flex in the air dam so it doesn’t snap from light off roading.

if I wanted to rock crawl, I’d get the TRD off-road or PRO.

The limited with this package is a semi luxury truck for towing/hauling and road trips, not serious overlanding/crawling.

Awesome. I like the Red a lot. Nice steps too. I’ve been thinking about them but both my wife and I are fairy tall so it’s not been an issue.

They were factory, not an add-on. The web builder is odd, you can't technically configure this truck the way it came but there it was. It wasn't a port add either.

OP, this is obviously different than what you have under your truck.
Looks like they ran out of the splash guard and stuck what used to be a fire blanket under a hood on there.

I completely agree about the ridiculous trashing that some 2nd gen owners are giving the 3rd gen. I’m excited about the new Tundra. I can wait, though. I really enjoy my ‘21 and don’t see myself jumping ship anytime soon. There are a few ways I think the 3rd gen has taken a step backward, and some may seem minor to most. My truck is much shorter up front, which is better for visibility, particularly off-road. It has a tighter turning radius, which makes it feel like a smaller truck than it is. It is a simple truck by comparison, which is a huge plus for me. And it is exceptionally dependable. That last one, I bet the 3rd gens attain that as well, despite the less-than-stellar rollout. I will most likely end up in the 3rd gen at some point. Congrats on the purchase.

I’m sure there are pros and cons to both, like any difference in generations. I should have specified, I didn’t own the previous but have ridden in plenty. Both are phenomenal trucks, clearly. I’m just thrilled with mine, and the majority of the complaints are from guys who haven’t driven one or seen one is a good example of ignorance.

I had some QC issues in mine like a small amount of vinyl coming up on the A pillar as well as a cracked camera lens on the driver mirror. If I posted them and blew it all out of proportion with CAPITAL LETTERS explaining my disappointment it would spread like wildfire. Shit happens. I fixed the vinyl with a business card and my dealer is replacing the broken lens.

Good luck in your search if you go for one, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Could you tell whether the A pillar was painted body color under the vinyl? I would imagine it is but I’ve seen the question a number of times without a response. Thanks.

I really hope so for $20k more. My completely loaded 2019 Platinum was $47 new. Congrats on the new truck. I'll be shopping and comparing in a few years and the Tundra will be an option for sure.

Nice truck and glad you like it! I don't think though you need to be so defensive against the 2nd gen owners. The 3rd gen is just so different it wont meet everyone's needs. Congrats again can't wait to see what else you do to it!

I get it, and don’t mean to sound like that.

I just know how many guys in here who are bashing the truck will end up owning these and will be pleasantly surprised and feel like I do.

I watched the same thing happen on TacomaWorld when the 3rd Gen came out.

totally get it bro. its normal that people will bitch when the new model comes out, people don't like change. but a few years into the new model it will be beloved by most. enjoy it and just ignore the haters, they will love it one day.

Obviously the new truck is not better in every way. There is less interior space and less usable bed space. Also the approach and departure angles and the turning circle are horrible. It may grow on me though. I hated the 2nd gen when it first came out, now I love it. Who knows, lightning can strike twice. The main thing with me now is disappointment. I really expected Toyota to come out with a class leading truck and they didn’t even come close. Doesn’t mean I won’t buy one some day. I’m glad you’re enjoying your new truck and hope you always do.
