All I am saying is you guys are bad influences! I just spent $14k for a Barrett m107a1 50cal for a Christmas present to myself that landed me in the dog house, and now I have to come up with another excuse for the old lady as to why I "need" to spend another $8k on a supercharger. Geez, I thought you guys were my friends?

Lets be serious, it’s more like $10k with all the must have goodies to accompany the SC.

I think you will be ok with stock exhaust and no headers but I would recommend a tune at the least to be safe. The stock ECU doesn't go into Power Enrichment until 70% throttle. The tune has it going into PE at 35% as that is where the boost picks up. It just makes thing a lot safer.

My Harrop Supercharger will be delivered Thursday! Does anyone that has installed it before have any install tips?

It's a good hobby, ensure you work hard to gain parts, instead of other vices.

Quick question for you guys in hot area, did you guys upgrade your radiator?

Got mine sitting in the garage collecting dust with my girl guarding it while I wait for a package from ProSpeed. Can't wait to get it on.

No, but in the in-n-out drive through if it's over 100 out and I don't put the transmission in neutral then it starts to get hot, once the tranny cooler can't keep up then the coolant can start to climb. That's sitting parked for like 20-30 minutes in sunlight with AC on, that's the only time I've experienced the cooling system not able to keep up.

I'm not sure what they consider it. I don't see any 'Stages' listed. I ordered the Harrop, ProSpeed Intake, smaller pulley, and full ProSpeed Billet Fuel system.

And then the forged block and everything in the future.

Stage 1 installed. I installed new NGK 6619 spark plugs and did an oil change prior to install. Like others have already said, you can’t tell it’s there until you mash the pedal.

It’s tough keeping traction since it’s been around 20 degrees F outside.

I’ve included the invoice for anyone wondering prices for installation at RT Tuning in Montgomeryville, PA.

Nice @ZPhilip so that is untuned stage 1? That’s a nice power increase. I see their note about the spark plugs and I’m wondering what they want to change them to. My mechanic said mine looked like it was running good on those on stage 1 when he changed them to IKH24s for stage 2. I’m only 1 tune revision in on my DAP tune, he’s a busy guy so I’m at the mercy of when he has time to send me new files. It’s been tough staying off that skinny pedal meanwhile.

Whatever this forum told me to do
Tuning stage 1 will get rid of that TQ bump/dip you have @ 2700 rpm.

nice numbers. must be that chilly air!

I'm curious about that comment too....upgrade spark plugs and coil packs. I took my truck to the same guys to do a compression test after my apparent issues towing way back when. They even cleaned off the plugs and the boots cuz they were coated with oil....and recommended the catch cans but nothing about plugs and packs. And now I see ViktorG's commentary on necessity of tuning even in stage 1, especially when towing and WOT. I read a Harrop white paper somewhere that said it isn't worth it to tune at stage 1....from 2019 I remember.

I have all the stuff for stage 2 and now that we owners of 2019s + can go for tuning, I guess I'll have to sell off more of my bitcoin collection or become a YouTube influencer to pay for it.

Yep I wanted the before and after dynos. They were planning on just doing after the install which didn’t make much sense to me.

Yes, I am pleased with the work done by RT. I went over all the hose clamps, routing, engine bay appearance before I even started it. All looked clean and well thought out. I was impressed that the pressurized hose clamps had a small white paint streak across them indicating they were tightened. Only missed a couple non essential hose clamps on the large vacuum hose from manifold to brake booster.

Communication was good despite my contact going out sick with covid. I was surprised when I saw the $425 shipping charge on the final invoice. I was verbally quoted around $100.

Yes that is stage 1 untuned. I am all stock besides TRD air intake. 170 whp increase ain’t nothing to sneeze about.

I was unsure of what to do with spark plugs so I called Ryan at Harrop. He said stock plugs are no issue on stage 1, no benefit to colder heat range, etc. They also still state there isn’t much benefit to tuning on a stage 1 truck that’s all stock otherwise. An exhaust swap might sway to the direction of getting tuned.

So I went to RockAuto and saw NGKs for only $6 each and just did it. Only took about 1 hour to swap them. The stockers had almost 60k miles on them and I installed the new ones a few days before I dropped off the truck. I wanted to do this before hand and drive it for at least a couple days to rule out any potential spark related issues that could arise if the charger and plugs were installed at same exact time.

And RT mentioned nothing to me about the plug/coil disclaimer. It was just added in writing to final invoice.

I’ve been meaning to ask since I emailed Dinesh, but they seem to be out of stock on the stand alone tuner for the next couple weeks. I was considering buying the Pro Tuner and just tuning it via laptop. Would you guys familiar with tuning consider this acceptable, especially since we’ve acquired another 5.7L V8 in the family that’s likely bound for the Harrop install? Especially because I’m not big on stuff suction cupped to my windshield. It will also need tuned eventually and having the laptop and software might be a better option if you have multiple vehicles to tune, just buy the extra credits…I literally had to buy the wife a $60k SUV to keep her hands off my truck after the SC install, now she wants her own :rolleyes:

    Damn lawyers.

I guess I could stick with stage 1 and try the new tune guy.....but I've been back and forth on the PA turnpike out to Raystown Lake a half dozen times in the past couple months and every time a Ford pissed me off, I blew it away. lol.

Not sure what to say about that shipping invoice.....even with trucker shortages and the build back better inflation up spiral, $475 seems at tad steep.

Boostedtrdpro - you got off easy. I bought my wife a cabin vacation home in Central PA.....well, that's what I told her anyway.

I paid exactly $400 for shipping, thankfully I bought the SC directly from Harrop and didn’t have to pay taxes on it, that was over $600 saved.

I’m not saying the freight charge is out of line but a little communication beforehand goes a long way. I used to ship freight up until about 3 years ago and it would only have been approx $125-175 to ship a lightweight pallet from Ohio to PA. I have no idea on current pricing though.
