A vehicle as an investment is nearly never a great idea.

Considering we'll all be driving electric vehicles, it might be a great idea if many are nostalgic about the past, or a horrible idea if you cannot buy the gas.

I would say, it may not be a terrible idea if the vehicle will support ethanol or propane. I suspect those two will last long beyond 87-93 octane fuel going the way of the dodo.

It's true that the propane conversion has been done before on the Tundra but a purist might frown at the idea.

That part doesn't bother me at all.
It's the rampant condescension when someone strays, at all, from the path of the purist. I sincerely loathe the way every purist feels compelled to not only decide how others should maintain their vehicles, but to then pontificate about it...usually loudly. Sons of bitches.

I just can't get over the fact that some folks buy cars just to never drive them. There's people around here that will trailer their classic to drive it in a parade then it goes back on the trailer until the next time.

If that's fun for you that's cool but if it's me I'm driving it.

Well, a couple significant events happened today.

I rolled over 72k starting my 30mi round trip to the dealership and back to get parts.

FedEx Home re-delivered a replacement 130A alternator for the one they smashed up, perfectly intact, no prob - freaking awesome service from RockAuto, but seriously, FedEx can eat a bag of chubs and die in a fire.

A guy in a tricked-out sporty blue Subaru nearly obliterated my Tundra and instead destroyed his subie flying off at an I-285 off-ramp as I returned from the dealership. His subie was feeeecked up. I have NFC what that MF'er was doing - maybe an 80mph multi-lane hail-mary? All I know is I heard brakes screeching and a blue blur coming up from behind me FAST, and suddenly dude is skidding off into the wedge of earth between the off-ramp and interstate, hits a hole full of water, parts are flying off his car, and he comes to a rest with everything steaming to high hell next to me. It was close enough he threw water, seeds, pine needles, mud and other shit onto the truck missed my rear driver corner by less than 18" going 50MPH+ Wish I'd had a rear camera to record it.

Live to drive another day. Really hoping I don't wash it later and find a dent, I know (at minimum) the front air-dam/spoiler thingy flew to the other side of my truck.

I hydroplaned twice. Once was in my nova with slicks, and looped it after the rain was done. The other time was in the titan on the highway and i 360’d it from about 60mph to 20mph and never had to come to a complete stop.in a corner of 610 i went from left lane, backwards through the right lane, and back to the left lane at 30mph. Never been so embarrased in my life.

but i was super proud of having 100k on those tires.

I mean, dude didn't move from the spot he landed in, and I didn't stick around to find out why - maybe he blew out multiple tires, maybe dropped part of his drivetrain?

Part of me was pissed and wanted to tell him to stop driving like a GD maniac just because he had a sports car, the other part of me wanted to shit my pants.

It's crazy, I was literally just thinking, "Damn, what if someone hit me?" when I was 1/4 of the way back from the dealership. Then this shit happens 6mi later. Ugh.

Gotta stop thinking grim thoughts. Apparently, where thought goes, energy flows.

I was in line for gas, think I was in the minivan, kid driver with both parents in the car, pulls out of the lane waiting for a chance at the pump (costco so super crowded) and accelerates vigorously into a vehicle currently fueling (nice camry hybrid IIRC). Smashes that guy into the post adjacent to the pump. Throws it into reverse and backs up into the car previously behind him, trashing the front pretty hard.

That was 2 or 3 cars in front of me. Nobody had any escape route, all packed in like sardines. Really horrible to watch, but at least no risk of severe bodily injury other than the guy standing near his car while gassing up. Just a lot of unlucky people.

    code brown:

On my kawasaki, riding through pasadena after dark & too close to the guy in front of me. I hit a chunk of street curb. Dead centered. Threw me off the seat, and into oncoming traffic, and when i landed, i was in the far lane of oncoming, and had to duck to the shoulder. Luckily i stayed on the bike, but my front wheel was taco’d, and had to get a buddy to load the bike up.

if that lady or whoever had been in the right lane, id be dead. I havent driven faster than my line of sight since.
