What have you done to your 2nd gen Tundra today?

Those headrest posts are the biggest PITA. I hit them with a rubber mallet and sometimes that worked. Other times I had to also use a screwdriver to push the tabs out while pushing the plastic posts in. Probably harder the older the plastic is.

 

I didn't have any problems getting the plastic posts in or out, it was getting the headrest posts back in, which was weird because I've never had a problem getting the headrests back in before, so I threw something off.

 

stuck my Bilstein Shock stickers on each side of my canopy, I believe that compounds the +5hp to a total of 10hp today.

 

I did Clazzio covers last spring. I wanted black, but they weren't available so I grabbed them in grey. I thought it was going to look weird as I had the black cloth seats, but the color turned out way better than I expected.

I hear ya. Plus it's hard enough to get them on as it is without that kind of temperature getting in the way of stretching.

And you said you're in WI? Packers fan?

 

Same problem I was describing. If the tabs on the plastic posts that hold them down don't pop back out, the headrest posts hit them and won't sink in all the way. The technique I described was how I resolved that.

No I didn’t remove the plugs for the headrests; I stretched the material around them (like squeezing your head through a small shirt) and the material tucked nicely underneath the plugs. Removed them a couple times to wash and they still look fine around the plug area

 

Oh, interesting...again shows the variability people get with suspension changes. I've got my set of 2019 Sport TRD shocks/springs waiting to go in when I can feel my fingers and toes again.

I'm not a "native", but have been here since 1993, so I'd say I'm a fan, but more of a passive fan than some of the diehards I know. Originally from Toronto, so I'm a Leafs fan by default.

 

I'll have to maybe check mine again...I've got plans to add some better sound deadening behind the rear seats in the spring. One thing I noticed when driving around for a couple of days with the rear seats out while I did the install is the seats themselves block a LOT of exterior noise; I was shocked at how much louder it was in the cab without them. The sound barrier back there is just that el cheapo rubber mat...I'm not sure how much it actually does. Once I actually get around to installing the front covers I'm planning on pulling the seats and will just sound-proof everything the best I can. With the stereo system going in around the same time, I should have the interior mostly apart so I'll do the back wall, floors and doors.

 

Got it...I'll double check mine, but I'm pretty sure the tabs came out. Maybe not...that would definitely explain it.

 

Very cool, and hey whatever works! Being a Southern CA native, I used to be a Rams fan, but I never forgave them after they moved to St. Louis. My brother-in-law had just married my sister at the time, and he's from Wisconsin. So he got me watching Packers games, and I became a fan.

I own a Packers share, too. I missed out on the last offering, but I jumped on the recent one this past November.

 

A few weeks back I added the Charvonia billet bed tie downs.

 

Cool! Yeah they're an easy team to like, and the fact they've been mostly competitive for the last 30 years now doesn't hurt anything either. Maybe should have stayed a Rams fan this year though! They've been looking pretty good.

 

Nah, I also really like the green & gold. Comparably I hate the current Rams uniforms and logo lol.

While I'm also a Dodgers fan for obvious reasons, I used to watch Athletics games regularly cause of the green & gold.

 

I got tired of slipping off of the door sill so I wrapped them in skateboard grip tape.

Beautiful! How long did that take? Was removing the headliner a nightmare? Where did you buy the suede?

 

It took a couple weeks bc I’m slow

i used cheap Amazon fabric ($50)

3m 77 spray I wanted 90 but couldn’t find it, 3 cans at $5 each

removing headliner was way easier than expected bc once unrestrained it simple slide out the back roll down windshield.
I can only imagine the nightmare if my rear windshield didn’t roll down

That is an excellent idea! Especially with this winter weather always keeping the bottom of my boots wet.

 

I bought a roll to put on my kids push scooter and then I thought it looked cool and worked well so I went for it.

worst case scenario I pull it off bc it’s a big sticker that gets trimmed but it’s good so far I like it and I have not slipped out of my truck recently either lol

How well did the spray paint match the black that was already in the interior?Really wanting to paint the pieces around the shifter and the instrument cluster and get rid of the chrome/silver on the interior

 

it’s a weird end result and either hate it or love it I think.

It matches in color shade yes but it’s not possible to “wipe down” with a cloth bc the texture snags the hairs and cotton pieces so it looks worse if you try to wipe it down with a product.

To clean basically it’s spay water and wipe with towel, then I kinda use my hand to get it looking dark black again. It seems very durable though so I’d buy a can and spray it on something first to see if you like how it feels.

I could never get past the gray A B C pillars and gray top even though it standard in 99% of vehicles

 

I traded my 37s for 35s today. I'm not going to regear for a while and I haven't rocked anything bigger than 33s.

I'll throw in some 37s when I regear in the future and when I know for sure that they will fit.

Being in the military, I don't have a ton of time to fuck around with the truck. My lift is 3.5 inches

 

Matching rears with the front finally and got rid of the punctured air bags with some timbrens till I get rid of the blocks...

Gave her a bath and waxed the hood/roof/canopy roof. Put both platforms back on. They are pretty close to being level, so I'm happy. Also got them even with each other.
Tomorrow, I'll start working on getting wiring run to prep for solar, f/s/b lighting, cb, and vhf. My sound deadener should be delivered Tuesday and I am having it brought up to me in the hills after it gets delivered. That way, I can utilize the clear weather to get it installed, plan to use my Buddy heater to get it warm inside the cab.
Still not sure what I am going to use for f/b lighting. Probably DD, maybe KC. Either way, I'm not going to skimp by ordering Chinese knockoff crap again. Though the side lights are MicTuning. Other than my bumper lights, I've had good luck with them.

Definitely looks better having both up there rather than just one on the cab.
Wind noise is noticable, but I was also driving with no headliner or insulation. I expect it to drop a decent bit when I put the sound deadener on as the roof itself was vibrating ba lot.

 

Wired up the new seat heaters. The middle switch is for a heater I added to the center console lid, so my arm is warm, because I'm a Texas boy living in Connecticut and this Winter is killing me.



For others considering installing seat heaters, each seat draws about 4 amps on high. I thought it was closer to 10 so I wasted some energy putting in an extra relay for the back seats.

I also replaced the cigarette lighter in the center console with a USB-C charger. Made a couple of adapter cables and had to widen the hole with a step bit, but now I can keep stuff charging in the center console. This outlet is always on.
