Alright it’s time to keep up with all the ballers. Time to buy an xmaxx. I’ll be letting go of one of my slash ultimates.

I sold a Stampede VXL 4x4 and a Slash Platinum to pay for part of my first Xmaxx. Bought a second one two days later off marketplace, best upgrade ever. Just smoked my pinion and spur gear, both metal. That was a bit odd.

Make sure you clean and loctite the set screw of the pinion. Also remove and clean everything for the pins and motor to sit perfectly flush and grease regularly. The metal gears are not invincible, the 8s big torque motor is a beast!!! If you roached a set there was probably not enough lube, and once they heat up too much, the teeth will start shedding... Bye bye pinion/spur. Fortunately the gears are relatively cheap and readily available.

    On the UDR?
I've read that is one of the drawbacks of the truck is that it is quite heavy and doesn't take a punch as well as say the Xmaxx. I haven't looked into it too much, but maybe there are HD upgrades for the front and rear, like other models?
I believe it has something to do with scale parts, versus their own design.

Yes, i run 8s. I’m really happy with it. The only issues that i have is the rear can be a little floppy with all of the weight from the spare tires. I just put a brace on the rear and it helps a lot. The other issue is the battery door. Dirt and sand work their way in there and can make it difficult to open.

I’m not gentle with it but I don’t do anything to crazy either. So far, I haven’t broken anything after about 10 runs.

I like the 1/10 scale trucks. I have a 1/10th Summit which isn't super fast(30+), but because of it's size, or lack of size, you can drive it pretty much anywhere and have fun, where my Xmaxx is too big to open up in smaller areas and you really only pulse full throttle before you have to brake. But with the 1/10 Summit, I can open throttle for 70% of the run.
It all comes down to where you drive them and how much space is available to you. I actually love my 1/10 for the very reason of driving everywhere short of the big open areas where the 8s monsters really thrive.

The xmaxx and tmaxx look like crazy fun, but my concern with bigger than 1/10 cars is hitting another person and injuring them accidentally. Obviously less of an issue in more rural areas

Yeah, last work week, I hit a block of concrete that was hidden by the grass, there is a lot next to the hotel about 100 yards long and 40 yards wide, I was making my UDR go full throttle, made a quick turn, gave it full throttle and BOOM! I sent that block 3-4 feet in the air and about 15 feet long, truck flipped end over end, brought it back to me to look over, I flipped it and yup, passenger side LCA broke, yesterday was drivers side, same area running around, hit a rut that a semi truck left behind, thought it would be a nice jump, NOPE, just slapped it on, had to drive to Wichita Kansas to pick up, in all, I love it, yeah it's not meant for pavement like I've been told, I'm totally hooked on this RC thing

I run the Spektrum batteries and charger and they have been great so far.
I would get this if you can swing it: https://www.horizonhobby.com/product/smart-g2-powerstage-bundle-for-surface-8s/SPMXG2PS8.html. Their new G2 batteries don’t have balance leads and its nice to not have to mess with them.

This setup will work great too, and its a little cheaper: https://www.horizonhobby.com/product/spektrum-smart-powerstage-bundle-8s-100c/SPMXPS8HC.html.

The first bundle i posted will charge faster than the bottom one.

Important note…. When connecting the batteries to the truck, one cable will be to short. YOu will need to purchase one battery extension. https://www.horizonhobby.com/product/6-extension-ic5-battery-ic5-device/SPMXCA514.html

Edit.. forgot you already have a charger from your UDR. I would still run either of the above batteries but you’ll probably need an adapter to hook them up to your current charger. SBR uses IC5 connectors.

Purchased a new toy on the way home....there went $790. This is the newest release of the wider version. Had to get a new Traxxas ID charger as well for the 4S. My other ID was a max of 3S.
