I have been running about 15 L/100 km running around the city, which isn't too bad, but the one thing I noticed with this truck is your driving habits can make a huge difference. If I drive aggressively that number can skyrocket, but as long as I am just cruising the numbers aren't too different than my tacoma. I have yet to take it on a significant highway trip so we will see how it does there!

So after the fog light mod, it rests all the Infoz on the info center.
I re-calibrated my spedo to be safe...
Filled up last nigbt and the info center said I had 400 miles? It's never read that high on a fill up.....

Thoughts? - perhaps pulling off the negative would reset it?

It's just an "educated" guess from the ecu. Drive for a bit and it will change!

2nd Gen gas tank size is 26.4 gal and it is rated at 13/18 mpg. That means if you use up all the gas in the tank you will get between 343.2 miles and 475.2 miles.
The info center is at zero when your tank has roughly 4 gal left (according to my fill-ups).
If we use your 400 gal and 22.4 gal then the computer is using ~17.85 mpg as the calculation to display on the info center.

My guess is that I am a little off on the gallons left in the tank at zero so Toyota is probably just using the highway rating of 18 mpg as the initial calculation for the amount of miles remaining.

Here is some info i found when searching:
"The computer is making a calculated GUESS, thats all. Resetting the computer means it starts guessing from scratch."
"its normal after u disconnected the battery it resetted the whole system, so it'll show up like that for a few fill ups then it'll go back to the norm. "

Last I checked the computer said 13.2, but I never look anymore. I have the temp displayed and just drive. I enjoy getting in the throttle a lot more than I do monitoring it and feathering the pedal.

I average 14 - 15 mpg combined mostly in town driving. I averaged 18 on the hwy last time I drove down to Reno. The mileage isn't great but I still love driving my Tundra.

An avg of 14-15 isn't bad. After I first bought the truck and wanted to see what it would actually get, I was 14.5 to 15.

    Hello all,

I spent my first weekend with the Tundra. Drove from Denver to the Springs on Friday night. Was downtown in the Springs for a bit, then onto Pueblo West. Spent the weekend going back and forth between the Springs and Pueblo West on my first tankful. I'd say about 75% hwy driving and I'm averaging 20.8 mpg per the truck's info display. I'll take a pic of it later. Specs below:

    2007 Tundra Dbl Cab 5.7 4x4
    TRD exhaust
Michelin LTX MS2 on stock alloy wheels (275/65/18 iirc)
Fugly, but surprisingly effective at traffic management; brush guard.

To me fuel mileage is all about Energy Management. You spend potential energy to create kinetic energy. There are many factors which determine how much potential energy you have to spend in order to not only get from point A to point B, but to do so in the most efficient manner. There's more to it than keeping your maintenance up and going 55. How much energy would you spend going a steady 55 in hilly country as opposed to converting more potential (fuel) energy during downhills and using less overall to achieve the same or greater momentum at the top of the next rise? Think in 3 dimensions.

Edit: Sorry about the poor quality pic. I'll take a better one later =)

This past weekend I went to Grand Junction. We hit a lot of highways speeds, but probably around an hour of traffic on the way there. We averaged 16.2 mpgs the way there.

On the way back, we maintained greater than highway speeds, encountered some traffic, and more hills. We hit around 14-15mpg.

I just got back from a family trip to Salina, KS. ~444 miles each way straight east on I70. Got ~12mpgs on the way there and ~12.6mpg on the way back. Had the cruise set at 83mph to stay under 10 over to avoid a ticket.

With 75% highway and 25% city I'm averaging 16.3 right now, it climbed from 15.9 with the warmer weather and change in fuel blend. I never reset the MPG gauge so I'm hoping it keeps climbing.

Had the 5.7L, SR5, 4X4 w/TRD pkg. (6) mos. Haven't done any hgwy. driving yet, but around town initially was getting around 13mpg. I've learned how to drive the beast a little better, remove the lead boot from my foot, and am now averaging 15.6mpg last fill-up. Been just over 15mpg for the last couple months. I try to get it to 5th/6th gears as soon as possible, without stomping on it.

I did a 5 hour road trip this weekend. One tank was 15.7, the second was 16.4, and I haven't figured out the third one yet. I averaged 75mph, with parts being in the low 80's. I also didn't worry about driving my truck easy.

I'm thrilled with 15.7 just around town, lots of stop-and-go. Hgwy, I got just over 18mpg. Not dissapointed at all.

My handy-dandy Excel spreadsheet tells me over the life of the truck I've averaged 12.07. I only reset the computer once or twice since I've had the truck and the dash was telling me 12.5. The spreadsheet says the last two tanks were low 13s. Last fill up I reset the dash and as of right now it's telling me 13.9. woo- I'll take it! :bananadance:

That's with 35x20 Trail Grapplers and 7 inch lift.
I quit feather-footing the throttle and just drive it.

Yeah, I stopped really caring about fuel mileage, too. If I cared about fuel burn I would have bought a Scion!
