That's a nice setup. Vortec doesn't' suck. No doubt the FJ is scary.

Your friend also knows that most toyotas are very weak up front engine section in the frame. It might hold it now but 6 or 8 years it will show cracks.

Toyota in alot of vehicles gets away with bare minimum metal to hold stuff up. My tacoma is example of one. Very thin metal holding alot of weight.

Would seem to me that when the OEM engine is out that is the best time to shore up the frame and suspension. Can't add too much to the cost. Sort of like my d-ring/because of had to lose my rails mod. Finish it right= $ 4 bucks. Total cost $21 bucks. Sheesh.

Problem is most people dont have a clue about structure support. Sure we can get it in there but most frames are only about nickel thick. Im sure you want 400 pounds hang on that much metal.

The Vortec 350 (even with cast iron intake and heads) still weighs less than the stock 2F engine that Toyota installed at the factory.

    Vortec 350 = ~600lbs
    Toyota 2F = ~750

The engine has been in there for about 12 years with no problems.

In a fj which body body style? Older ones can.

Funny part put a chevy engine or ford in a toyota there value is nothing.

Edit I have seen 6 toyotas goto the scrap yard to do a swap here locally. One was 1998.
