TRD Pro vs. Limited Offroad

I'm struggling to understand the real differences. There are a couple videos and articles, but since production TRD Pro hasn't been out not sure the final form.

Is my assumption the TRD Pro will have a little better off road capability than Limited Offroad true? TRD Pro 18" with all terrain vs. Limited 20" and less aggressive tires? How about clearance and suspension setup?

Also assumption the Limited will have upgraded interior?

I wish it was like my 2012, had the best of all Platinum Limited Offroad. Thanks!

dont try and figure out the off-road worthiness difference between teh two, there wont be much at all, especially for the price you could built up a limited to be much better than a stock pro if you want a real off roader.

TRD Pro shocks are thicker and absorbs more energy before cooking the fluid inside, so if you do prolonged wash board driving then they are better.

in terms of off road capability, I'm pretty sure with the right tires, the limited off road can go anywhere the Pro can go

but the truth of any TRD Pros of Toyota vehicles these days is that they are high-yielding investment instrument disguised in the automotive form, if you buy one at MSRP, you can drive it for 6 months, and sell it to carmax and earn at least 10% profit

 

like any other year trd pro. it comes with fox suspenion and the front end is 1.5" higher. plus all cosmetic treatment. pretty readily available info.

 

Right now I have a daily driver and my 2012 Tundra for the ranch. The 2012 did dual purposes until just 2 years ago. I'm thinking about going back to the 2022 for both daily driver and the ranch.

I beat the truck up pretty good on the ranch, but that's mostly just brush scrapes. More payload (2-3k pounds deer corn), towing, and getting around mud use than rock climbing or deep rut stuff.

never on the highway, that was between country properties. it did really really good though, Tundra's are a beast. I think only thing keeping from certified for 16-18k would be brakes.

 

And frames. And suspensions. And rear ends. And transmissions. And cooling systems. And Vehicle weight. And axle ratings. and Tire ratings.

 

3/4 ton aren't great around town and I would argue a Tundra can keep up minus the 16k towing. FYI I just have a single property now, so don't need to transport the tractor. I do still haul corn from town, but 1,940 pounds is plenty. 39 50# bags.

 

A funny perspective is the 2 gen Tundra's were 5x more capable than the 60-70's trucks hauling around 15k pound trailers and tractors on the farm.

I can't stand city boys that buy trucks that never get used as one. Especially if they go to the extent of lifting and off road tires. I will give in a Tundra as a highway car, they sit up high and smooth as a Cadillac.

True, I think that gives another vote for the Limited Offroad at 1,740.

 

To each their own on what they do with their vehicles. I'm a very functional vs. flashy kind of guy. I value stuff that works and has function. I've never owned a lifted truck and I decided long ago I wouldn't worry about the scratches and dings. It's a tool. You sir are getting your money's worth out of that tool. I'd be leery of failure due to using the wrong tool for the job, but it sounds like your truck has held up and performed well. Here's hoping continued success with your farm Tundy, just hope you're not running the roads with that big gooseneck loaded down on the highway.

Keep in mind this is just my hunt ranch, I'm only up there doing work a handful of days a month. 90% of the time it was my DD on city roads. I did use it for hauling race cars and bass boat too, which it performed great.

If I was working the ranch all the time or needed to haul the tractor on highway, then the Tundra certainly isn't the best choice. Kind of like a lifted offroad Tundra is not the best choice for just within the city limits.

My limited off road double cab is 1,490
But for the intended use. no you won’t notice A benefit to the trd pro and will actually do better with the limited for real work truck stuff. Also the limited off road does come with all terrain tires. Even though they kinda suck.
