Just chiming in to say what has been already said. I'm in market for a project vehicle, either a 4runner, tacoma, or another tundra, and it is absolute bonkers.

I would but I'm adding a third vehicle to the fleet.

I've even considered doing a muscle car but Fox mustangs that don't have to be trailered home are going for $15k. lmao.

Yeah I may need to look at 80k-100k miles and I think as a lot of others are saying I need to not worry about the mileage and trust the reliability. I think the dealership just wants to be scummy and I am young so they think they can take advantage of me. I'll try other dealerships.

Yeah that's why I don't particularly want to sell privately. I may just try finding dealerships with Tundra's I'm interested in 100k-125k miles as people have pointed out and just see what they want to offer for trade in.

That would be nice, but no guarantee's I can get a 2016 with my budget. All depends on what's available.

In Boise Idaho which has the worst selection of Tundra's at the most ridiculous prices I've pretty much seen in the country.

    Yeah you're screwed lol

Have you thought about looking outside your area? I've heard plenty of stories on Tacomaworld and on here where people buy a one way ticket to another state, buy the truck and then drive it home. Obviously there's some risk involved flying to buy a truck you've only seen in pictures (maybe video) but just a thought.

Currently looking at Utah and Washington as they seem to have some pretty good options and pricing.

Have not read all the posts, but have you tried getting quotes online from Vroom or Carvana? I have sold to Vroom and it was painless...

I think I got a quote from Carvana for $26k trade in, but from my understanding you can't haggle the price or push for higher trade in so I kind of gave up. I think Vroom would be the same way if I'm not mistaken? If they actually went to $28k trade in I would probably do it just because of the options they have on Tundra's.

I am in Phoenix and had to broaden my Sequoia search. I ended up getting it from Corpus Christi, TX. Have you considered looking further away?

Also, have you tried Autonation? They gave me the most on my trade (but sucked on the purchase although the Sequoia is great!)

Vroom gives you a fixed price online. No need to even speak with anyone. Takes about 10 minutes. They were considerably higher than local dealers, came to the house with a flatbed and took it away. They FedEx the check and I had payment the next day.

I have never heard of Autonation, but I am currently looking in Washington and Utah as they have more options and reasonable pricing.

They say they are the largest retail Auto seller in the country.

I have no affiliation, and again, the purchase experience sucked but they gave me 5k more than anyone else offered.

You will most likely have to travel to get a deal. I have in the past and it worked out great. If the truck is new, shipping isn't that bad either. I shipped a Corvette from Orlando, FL to Colorado Springs, CO for 800.00.

If OP were to do that, what type of taxes had to be paid if a vehicle was purchase in a different state?

Depending on the state. I had to pay 1.9% federal tax in FL at purchase, but then didn't have to pay that 1.9% Federal tax in Colorado. Don't get me wrong...Colorado tried to tax me for it. Key word is try.

I bought my Taco from WI and my Tundra from KY and had them both shipped here and just paid Maine sales tax when I registered and got my plates, no sales tax paid to the states purchased from.. although the KY dealer tried to sneak it into the paperwork, didnt think id notice that extra thousand+ I guess.

I feel your pain. I am actually going in the other direction, getting rid of my 19 limited and buying a 4runner, jeep or something similar in size. Tundra doesn’t fit in my new garage. But, after calling my Toyota dealer I guess I’m just going to wait a few years. The offered me the Toyota I want at sticker and giving me a good trade offer, but they can’t get a 4runner for 4-6 months. I’d prob regret getting rid of the tundra anyway.

good luck looking, just keep searching you will eventually find something.

Check the driver seat for tears (hard to tell in the picture) Also the pictures seem that the truck is dirty on the inside. Almost like the dealer either didn't clean it or did a poor job.

Either way, if you have your stock rims/tires, I'd swap them out and sell separately. Then go for the trade +$5K and see if they'll take.

I'm not a big fan of that carfax report though..

You'll have to work the websites like it's your job. It took us a little over three months to find the Tundra we wanted.

2018, 12k miles, 4wd TRD Off Road,, completely stock, one owner, bought and all services at the same dealer. Certified pre-owned thru Toyota with extended warranty and free maintenance for four years.....$42k

You want 26-30K for a 14 Tacoma that was 30 new but aren’t happy the Tundra values are high? I don’t get it.

I'd look for a low mileage clean 2nd Gen at the price point your looking at. Carvana has a nice Rock Warrior for 38k. Under 50k miles.
