At some point I noticed that my 2021 Sequoia has a physical TPMS button to the right, under the steering wheel.

I never needed to use it, I had the sensor IDs cloned for the winter tires.

But I am curious what it does? It must have something to do with sensor programming, could it be for some kind of "relearn" feature?

    Thanks in advance.

It's for tire rotations and learning new id's. It's in the manual.

Ah, so I might need to use it when I rotate the tires in the spring.

I don't see it in the manual. Do you just press it once and it will do everything that needs to be done?

Yes. I do it when I start driving. Sometimes it takes a few seconds, sometimes it takes a few minutes

It also resets the "normal" pressure. My truck had 20s and LTs from the factory...so "normal" pressure was 49 psi. Low pressure light would go on at 44 I believe.

At one point I put passenger highway tires on, so my "normal" pressure needed to be 36 instead of 49. So put the new tires on, pressure up to 36 all around...then hit the reset button. The low pressure light would then turn on at about 32/33 psi.

you really don't need it for rotations unless you're rotating winter/summer tires.

I never used it. I have always just made a habit out of taking 10 minutes every few weekends to check my own tire pressure manually and adjusting as needed. The couple times it did alert a low pressure warning I didn’t need it to tell me which tire was rapidly losing air, but was nice to have a warning before a complete flat.

Hoping someone can help me out with a stupid question on this, please. Since I put my winter tires on my truck, the TPMS hasn't worked. I don't necessarily need it but looking at the yellow warning light all the time is annoying.

The manual says to turn the key to On then hold the button until the light flashes three times. But my light starts flashing immediately, before I can even hit the button. I've also tried the whole process of holding the button then driving for 30 minutes three or four times and nothing changes. Any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure when I put my summer tires last spring the reset process worked flawlessly. I also didn't see the light last winter when I bought the wheels and tires from the dealership.

Well, I'm not much help, since I've never had to use it. Not after rotations, not even after going up one tire size.

If the light is flashing immediately it is sensing a fault of some sort. Usually means a sensor is out of range (looking for your summer tires sensors) or one of your sensors is dead.

    :angrygirl:

I think I have to get it in for an oil change soon. I guess the dealership can deal with it.
