has anyone done the DRL Amber Delete mod where you De-Pin the gray cable ? put in TRD LED headlights in with harness from iHacker....& i was thinking about doing the DRL delete. just want someone’s opinion before i de-pin or just clip the cable off. anyone do it on a 2017 or 2014+ ???

    what does it actually do?
does it just cancel out the Orange DRL?

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
Instead of de-pining it because it’s a pain in the butt to get to it. You can also snip the wire.
This is what I did a few years ago when I installed the ihacker harness and my Toyota LED’s

    the orange drl turns off.

    Yes I have a 2017

I’ve also done it when I put in my retrofit headlights. I’d recommend depinning, since I clipped the wire, and eventually had to reconnect it. It was definitely a pain to get back together and solder correctly.

I cut the gray wire after putting in the new Toyota LEDs. Yes, it makes it so the ambers are off for DRL. Too busy with the white and amber for DRL imo.

Why did you eventually reconnect it? changed headlights back?

I rebuilt the headlights to function differently, so I wanted the DRLs back. B35A61FF-8385-4C75-8A8A-A909778B1AD9.jpg

I should have mentioned I wasn’t 100% sure when I made this move so I did throw on some tab connectors where I cut the wire so I can plug the two ends together to get the ambers back on if I want. Crimping connectors on such a tiny wire is a real B but it worked.

This deletes the amber DRL. It will not make the outer edge light if it isn’t already. Which headlights do you have? I replaced my stock lights with 2019+ LEDs.

Exactly. Out of the box it will illum both - if you cut this wire just the white.

I know this thread is old, but is the amber light supposed to come back on once you turn the parking lights or headlights on? I de-pinned mine and with the lights "off" just the outer rings are lit up. But once I turn the lights on, the amber light comes back on.

Are you sure you got the correct wire? Once the wire was cut, my ambers only come on for turn signal / hazards. Maybe @iHacker can help?

I know this is old but seems like depining the gray wire is a pain can I just cut it and if I cut it should I just cover it with electrica tape ?
