I have a 2021 Tundra SR5, 5.7 V8. Last night I went out to my truck and something near the drivers side rear tire, possibly the fuel pump, was running after being parked for nearly 5 hours. I had gone out prior to this incident to get the mail, walked by the truck and it was completely quiet. Is it normal for the fuel pump to go on and off while the truck is just sitting? I bought this truck 2 months ago new off the lot and have not noticed this until now. Thanks for the help in advance

Normal. There’s a few threads about it. I think it also mentions it in your owners manual.

Mine does it hours after turning the truck off.

Thank you, this is good to know. I must have missed it in the manual.

evap system check. my 4runner does it to. when both the tundra and 4runner do this in the garage it sounds like a shop class is going on in my garage.

Also...the thump/bump/bonk/clunk you hear and feel after taking off is the ABS system self check...

lol I have never had a truck make so many strange noises... thumps, beeps, clicks, knocks and buzzes. I guess I should only be worried if they stop.

To be fair alot of Tundra customers are disaffected owners from other OEMs. So when they hear strange noises they are convinced they have to plan the next dealer visit.

It's broke. Give it to me and I'll, ah, dispose of it properly. Sorry bout that. :/

    ;)

On a serious note, yeah, all 4 Toyotas we've owned (2000 4Runner; 2012 and 2020 Highlanders, and 2020 Tundra) have made these sorts of noises. Totally normal.

Thanks for the welcome and all of the reassurance that my new truck is not falling apart already! Lol.

A special thanks to Blanchard7684 for mentioning the clunk I hear when I start to drive b/c that would have been my next question.

I just caught my 2016 doing this this afternoon (how I made it this long before encountering this is beyond me)! Freaked me out, but feeling much better now that I found this thread.
