What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

It looks like that spot also has potential for a hidden winch. That's what I'm looking into. But I like the light bar you have there @alb1k

 

That's the @Voss truck. But I like it too.

 

Looks like a fail with the Autocraft neoprene covers. Too short it appears to reach the crease in the seat. I'll have to go with the Costco ones instead.

 

I somewhat looked into this. Maybe it could be done if the area above is cleared but as is, doesn’t seem like a winch strong enough for our trucks would fit.

If you figure out a way to make it work, please share!

 

The location of the winch on the Coastal Offroad bumper is right there, almost directly below where the top of the OEM bumper cover is. But, the steel OEM bumper (behind the bumper cover) seems like it would be completely in the way.

Just kinda sucks it gets rid of the entire aluminum crash bar

 

It's lower than I imagined, but the OEM bumper is removed apparently.

 

One day I’d love to build a tube style front similar to @KarmaKannon

 

If we had a bumper similar to this one… as much as I love the front end of my truck, I’d prob go for it

 

I wish this dude actually released this tube bumper for 5th gen 4Runners, same guy who stuck a 5.7l in that same runner, SAS and 40s maybe?Jason at RSG, he used to bring that thing down to Phx for the monthly meet and beat.

I’ve emailed this guy a few times in hopes he’d slightly modify the rear bumper to fit a first Gen. Almost identical width and mounting seems very similar as well.

It’s under $1k. If I actually had the option, I’d change the rear end out in a heart beat. Front isn’t much of a concern.

 

I’ve definitely been thinking about a front after a stupid Miata brake checked me in the work van. He later got out of his bean pod and yelled at me “get off my ass” to which I scooted closer. He also tried to pull the stop at yellow light and then take off thru the red……… this ain’t my first Brodeo!

 

Looks like something you could make yourself with a manual pipe bender and cutter. Just need to weld the pieces together.

Hardest part looks like grinding a circular end on one pipe to fit against the other. I'm not quite sure how that's done though.

Maybe I'm oversimplifying it.

 

I’ve thought about it. First I’m checking if they’re willing to make one cause making my own sliders is coming out pretty expensive and that’s with using the friend card for welding.

 

Im not familiar with this situation as I drive like a grandpa. 3 car length is my sweet spot.

 

Between my SpongeBob pedal and Brute Force bumper, if someone brake checks me it would be a seriously bad day for them.

What's the expensive part your running into when making them? I imagine the stainless steel piping isn't cheap. Oh, and I found out how to make the saddle joint cheap...the wonders of youtube

The metal alone set me back $450. The bends I had a shop do came out to $350 and I just ordered a pipe notcher.

My buddy pointed out I should check the scrap bin at the metal shop after I paid the $450. What a difference! Building a bed rack using just about the same amount of material as the sliders and it came out to $200.

 

My favorite part of the titan was the loose plastic bumper. 3 car lengths, but if someone hops in on their brake pedal, i’d touch em if they let me. The had one exit before i got too close to set off my airbag.

now that i have thick wall steel square tube holding badass work lights, i just make sure to be in the passing lane when people are dancing for exits. I like my lights more than punishing idiots.

Dash cam or one of those rear view mirror cams? This is pretty high up on my list along with a much better alarm system. Something along the lines of a full kill switch till it recognizes my DNA lol. It’s getting wild here in LA. Just last week they stole a client’s Silverado from his driveway.

Edit to add: one of my buddies is a lawyer, lives in one of the best parts of town and got robbed. Meaning, no neighborhood is safe in LA right now. They took everything, even the 5’ high safe. Just casually dollied the safe out the house, down the driveway and into the uhaul van in the middle of the day.

 

All these fancy cameras on cars and supposedly (built-in) cameras on motorcycle helmets are unobtainium. My helmet isnt easy to hang a camera from, my bad. But i want one built in with a little bit of google glass HUD and rearview. Nothing really seems to have made it out of crowdfunding.

 

So Iron Man’s helmet is what you’re looking for lol.

 

I only have a front facing cam. They have come way down in price. You can get a good dash cam for $100 these days.
