What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

Ive got 2 small guys

 

Bought some neoprene seat covers from Advanced Auto to protect my seats from sweat. Showers are down at the local gym I go to and I'm not driving home dripping in sweat. Will post pics and the expected poor fitment later today.

If anyone has a good suggestion for neoprene covers that will fit the driver's seat in a bench seat for under $50, I'm all ears.

 

I have some throw overs I use even though I have clazzios and katzkin. For summer when I’m gross. I can dig up a link, but.

my preference lately is a duffel bag from rei containing a metric ton of older shorts, cotton shirts, wet bag, and my favorite of favorites,

 

This reminds me that I did pick up a pair of covers for my GTI, I didn't install them yet. Maybe a good plan for this weekend. They were $25 at Costco, no idea if they will fit Tundra seats but I'll report back if I install them soon.

 

Do you have a build thread or pictures of the GTI you can link?

 

I have a set of Costco neoprenes on mine that I bought last year. Not bad, but could be better.

Nice! This may be my backup in case the Advanced Auto ones made by AutoCraft fit much worse.

It sounds like maybe they just got bent during install, the lift itself shouldn't have caused that. I'd try to find out where they are rubbing and go from there.

 

This is the style I have. Good for when you are transporting filthy passengers. Also good in a pinch for yourself, though I like to change into dry clothes in the parking lot. Easy to wash. Not a good choice for leaving on the seats though.

Yes for the most part, the only place there wasn't really cell connection I noticed was on the native land and in some of the canyons. When working on trips I just make sure to stop the night before somewhere with good service. I just use my camping table and chairs.

Not everyone has the patience for scales, grinders and a french press...

Ironically my clazzios were $350 ish so not super spendy. But, good point, I should split my pair between the trucks now that I have nice seats in the FGT

You should be able to spot it pretty quickly it you go under, and bend them back. Just to be sure, you're talking dust shields and not the splashguard/mud flaps in the wheel well?

 

Definitely metal on metal and not mud flaps. Most audible at low speed. I was thinking one side rhino ramp then jack up the other side with the OEM jack? But maybe that's a dumb idea and puts more pressure on the jack?

 

Just wanted to make sure. I've called stuff by the wrong name before. You could probably just use ramps, or jack up one side at a time. I wouldn't think you would need to take the wheel off, but I'm sure it would be more obvious if you did. Use jack stands, or borrow the wife's jack as a backup?

 

I do have Tacoma and Tundra jacks so yeah, I could try to jack both up that way and have both free to turn. That's an idea. Just not super sure with the fox coilovers that the OEM jack will be sufficient, though I do also have blocks.

Problem right now is time, we are leaving at 12:30 and I have to make lunches for the boys, shower, fold laundry. This may not be happening after all.

 

How much light does that bar throw? With it so close to the grille, I worry that the grille will obscure the light a lot.

 

Works well enough for me. Lights up everything I need to see.

Yes, I believe you are right. Although I don't believe there was any data either way.

The trans cooler is farther up behind the main grill area on my truck. I’ve had the light bar there for over a year, driven through 100* deserts without any issues. Hopefully it stays that way.
Most aftermarket bumpers have this area covered as well so hopefully won’t have issues.
