There are days I’d like to WFH if simply to not be constantly pulled away from shit at work. But reality is that no one in my house (wife, kids, dogs) understands that when I’m WORKING that I can’t throw the ball for the dogs, do the dishes, go for a walk, clean the chicken coop, help fold the laundry, etc.

So, like Adam, I prefer to keep them separate.

I also have terrible internet, and my line of work requires pushing a lot of data back and forth over the network constantly (hundreds of MB an hour). And I’m a department director. So not much of my job can really be done remote.

It's amazing to me that on the days when my wife is working, our daughter is able to spend all day downstairs with her babysitters. When my wife is at home, they just "have" to be upstairs where I'm working most of the day.

But I don't mind not commuting 25 miles on the highway in winter in a truck that gets 18 mpg at best.

How much is fuel up there right now? I always laugh when I see some of your fellow countrymen filling 5-6 gas cans before crossing back over the border.

$1.31 CAD per litre converts to about $4.30 USD per US gallon. I had done the math on commuting in the truck vs registering our second car and getting new tires and a new battery for it and figured I could drive the truck as long as gas stayed below $1.30 per litre. But I'll have to recheck some of my assumptions if I ever go back to working at site regularly.

I’ve looked at the commuter car scenario before and it has never pencilled out for me. Even when I was driving a truck that was costing me $100/week to fill up. All the cost factors outside of the fuel just eat into the “but I’m getting 35mpg” happiness.

It rarely makes sense to buy another vehicle to commute in but I already have this car because I didn't get around to selling it after I bought the truck but before we got to a scenario where I don't want to be driving around with strangers.

So two lines is positive? I’ve never taken or even seen a test kit.

    Maybe you’re pregnant…

I thought that indicated pregnancy. @T-Rex266 is there something you haven't been telling the forum?

Just that you're dripping something else on the strip?
The only test I've done was a quick nose swab, but they had a "professional" actually doing the processing so I never saw what the test looked like.

Wife bought the kits from one of the big pharmacies. Don’t remember which.

We have friends that get theirs from https://ihealthlabs.com/. Their prices are much better

Speaking of prices, think a new mandate from POTUS starts on Saturday that makes the home-test kits covered by healthcare. Haven’t dove into the details yet…

Our oldest popped too, so she’s mad she has to miss school. Waiting on the results from our youngest and the wife. I’m sure they have it as well.

My test was just a brain tickle, so no preggers here.

SSDD really. Getting real tired of feeling like I'm freezing to death everytime I lie down to sleep.

My son’s high school was the first to go remote last Monday. Now all four in the district are remote. My daughter says half her class is gone, so not really sure why the entire district isn’t remote for a few weeks. Her bus is now canceled, so the Tundra will be pressed into service tomorrow.

    Next week? Who knows…
