That's the site. We talked to the guy about that. What he uses won't affect dogs, something about vitamin K. It's also not attractive to squirrels but I don't remember why. Plus the bait stations are located where the dogs can't get to them.
I wear rubber gloves when I handle them as advised on the SDS.

The exterminator said mice can't see very well. He also said they are stupider than rats. We don't have mice so I can't confirm, but he's the trained professional. I know those rat bastards are fast. One dog has got a few but he misses most of them. When he does get one there's a crunch, sometimes a squeal then he spits it out and looks for more.

When we’re at the park we encourage our little ones rat dog traits and she will get her entire body into a ground squirrels hole. I know for a fact she’s gotten birds in our yard, but maybe she was just hungry…..

    Yes.
I built it just for the dogs to have a place to dig and chill...
They are all indoor dogs, but loved having a place to dig and lay in the cool sand in the summer.
They knew they could dig all they wanted there and not get in trouble..

    1st one was smaller..

    sand3_651828059c473d81172170e10f23d735f7298378.jpg

Added front sand area when Max came along.
That's where he would usually lay.

    103_0893_662b1458728583b2679b555146a3487c34c92cb1.jpg

Then with 3 dogs we had to expand...

    hjnkjm7n_10fdf950c0696e7192d6fef79671b3af9dbdfa8f.jpg hmu570p7_6bda03debfed734d527b5edc1301f269e35d738e.jpg

Maverick loved to bury Moxie in the sand.
He was so proud of himself...

That's great, it's kind of like a day at the beach for them!
It has to be 20 to 30 degrees cooler under shade of the roof, plus being able to bury up in the cool sand. Good on you, that's a great idea!

This is a general health post to all my friends here, it isn't a poor pity me post.
I'll be fine one way or another, and I'm not worried about it..

I posted about my recent spinal steroid injection around Thanksgiving and an MRI I got just before New Years.
Went to see the surgeon today about the MRI results.

I've got 4 fucked up discs.
    It's caused by:
Getting older in general, arthritis (knees and shoulders are bone on bone), degenerative disc disease (I've had since the 1990s when I was in my 30s), probably working out way too hard in my teens and 20s, and now being 30/40 pounds overweight in my almost 60s.

My pain isn't debilitating, it's worse in the morning, I can get up and go to work.
But it certainly isn't getting any better on it's own.

We're gonna try a series of diagnostic injections pinpointing certain nerves and if it helps, go in and zap a few spinal nerves.

If that doesn't help we might be looking at a 4 vertebrae fusion.
I know some of you have already had fusions in the past.
Looks a little frightening to me..

    opgjoxco_a38de076bfddeb796807bbded7566eaa5d0e0df4.jpg jfxq7d1s_41c6a89c4809660278ba059aba1ac98a575f26c3.jpg zm8kzdi5_291e6ff68e1aedde375b4ff9ab44f98f9da0bd26.jpg

But, in the meantime of getting the diagnostic injections, I'm going to do some physical therapy.
Hopefully, that will motivate me to get more exercise..
Fortunately, my daughter does PT for living.

I feel if I can make my back stronger, like it used to be, and get about 30 pounds off, I'll be fine and won't need the fusion.

I think the biggest issue against me is the weight I've gained and not being in shape.
    I'm 6'1" and 245, I feel I should be 200 or 210.
Plus sitting for 11 hours a day driving probably doesn't help.
If start walking during my 30-45 minute lunch break (like I used to do), that will help.

If it comes to fusion, that's 3 months off.
But that is fine, money saved will pay the bills, wife will take care of me, who wouldn't want 3 months off work.
Oh the honey-dos I could do in the last couple of months..

I guess my point is, we need to focus on getting healthy if we're not.
I know it is hard to find the time when you have young kids and/or work 65+ hours a week.
But we gotta think long term and that's hard to do when you're in your 30s and 40s.
In my 20s I never thought I'd make it to 50, but here I am 6 months away from 60.

Your kids are going to be in their 20s and you're gonna be in your 50s or more before you know it.
It happens in the blink of an eye.
I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer, but the older you get, the faster it flies by.

We need to be there for our families as we get older.
For our spouses (long term) and for our kids and/or grandkids as they grow into adults..

Just think of this as a public service announcement...:D
I'm very happy to have a place to vent, it's a release that is great to have.

Happy Friday and have a great weekend..

Damn man. I am sorry to hear that. I as well have two degenerated discs. L5 and S1, so, know a little of what you’re feeling. I too need to loose a little weight, (not too much) and get in better shape. So hard to get motivated.

Hope everything works out for you.

I didn't hit the like button because of your pain and suffering, I hit like cause of the wise words spoken, that we need to take better care of ourselves for the ones around us.
