Went to add gas today and opened the cap, turned to the pump and grabbed the nozzle and when I turned around a dang snake maybe 7 inches long dropped down in the fill.
I tried to add gas anyways and it kept kicking off like when it is full. So came home and disconnected the rubber hose from the tank to the fill tube but no sign of it.
I tried using my long 3 prong grabber into the hose going to the tank to see if I could grab something but no luck.
Haven't tried to add gas again but my concern is the dang dead snake is gonna plug up/block the pickup at some point.
Do I need to drop the tank and drain it?
    It's a 2020 full size Tundra.

    Thanks a lot.

I think this thread wins the title of most unique posting.

Open the fill cap, hang a mouse from the door of the gas tank and wait.

Hahaha whoa! That's worse than Snakes on a mutha truckin' plane!

You need to drop your tank and NOT run it until than...petrol will decompose the snake fast and clog injectors, filters et Al! I've never heard of this occurring before but we wish you luck!

This is a first....dropping the tank seems to be the best option if the mouse doesn't work or Spam

What i want to know is, did you have the snake around your neck or in your sleeves? Where could it have possibly been hiding to reveal itself, snake its way into that tiny gas filler hole and go all the way in in the 4 seconds it takes to grab the nozzle of the pump?

That’s a pretty amazing bit of bad luck.
Yes, you need to drop the tank, drain it, rinse and clean it thoroughly, then reinstall it.
The snake certainly died instantly from fumes or the gas. The gas will begin to break down the carcass pretty quickly. The pump suction may plug, but probably not before the crap gets to the injectors. I would not drive it until the tank is cleaned

is it possible the gasoline will completely dissolve the snake? If coke can eat an entire penny over time, shouldnt gas be able to do the same to a snake?

Thanks for all the answers and flack. you can't make this crap up

I thought there was something between the fill and the tank that prevented a hose or something to prevent siphoning....and was hoping it got stuck there.

    Damn!

I thought there was a little spring loaded door there to prevent stuff from falling in, but a snake could push through it pretty easy.
