I am on hold, waiting to see the next release / version of Gen 3 later this year.
With a 6 month plus wait time on new orders with other "brands" in my area, that is not an option either.
    So.
I am a believer in the "Squeaky wheel gets the oil" philosophy.
I thought why not a Classic Tundra Package?
What do you guys want to see in a Classic Package?

Some recommendations pls. i will followup by sending an email to Mike Sweers.
    ****************************

    Engine - N/A 5.7 Liter V8
Transmission - Your choice Mister Sweers whichever will work best in your opinion.
    4wd System - Addition of 4Auto
Rear End Axle Ratio - Additional Lower ratio option for those needing the mpg on highway.
Inside - You can keep the storage under the back seats but make the design removable, or foldable like the F150 to give us as close to a flat floor as possible for utility. Make it class leading.
Bed - Give us decent access to the Bed when the Tailgate is down. No more wrestling moves to get in. Make it proper access.
    Tow Hooks

    ********************************

What else would you guys like to see?

Headlights that don't start on fire and power steering that doesn't fail can't really use the trucks as God intended without some confidence in my trucks...won't venture far from home until these issues are resolved.

Other than that a regular cab long bed and a regular cab short bed...without all the freaking electronics, cameras, touch screens, complicated tech etc etc etc....and yeah I'm old and cranky.

but those are some of the key “classic” features. I don’t believe that an AWD system would be considered a classic. I also don’t believe that Mike Sweers or anyone at Toyota will bother to wipe their hind ends with whatever wish list you come up with here attempting to revert the new pickup to the oldest technology possible for nostalgia reasons. But it’s a fun exercise anyway, so carry on.

You should just hold onto your 2018 and take great care of it. Tundras will never be the same. Never say never, but I don’t plan to buy a 3rd gen myself unless they make a lot of changes on the next update. It just seems like they didn’t build it with truck users in mind but instead suburban moms.

Do what Ram did and just keep making the 14-21 models and call them classics. Just toss in that 10-speed :)

“Everyone” wants all these features like manual transmissions and 8 foot beds, and rough heavy load suspension for 2500# payloads and high ground clearance and departure angles that kill gas mileage, except that’s not what people buy. And I mean a majority of people. “Everyone” wanted a new Supra. Not many people bought one last year. People buy vehicles to move people mostly. So big cabin, softer ride, more aerodynamic for better mpg. That’s what sells to most people. No one is buying manual transmissions. I loved driving stick, I wouldn’t buy one in my daily now. They make what will sell. Sometimes they believe people will buy stuff cause they say they want it, but no one shows up with $$. So they make what sells. The new Tundra will sell well. This forum does not represent the 90% of Tundra or Toyota buyers. More like <1% and we are “enthusiasts”. For us, it’s buy what comes and mod it to our liking.

I know this is a just a unicorn list so..........

    - BIG Regular cab like before
    - V8 around 6.2 to 6.5
    - Optional Supercharger
    - Factory dual exhaust
    - 6 Speed Manual
    - Able to select AWD (my 6-Speed FJ AWD is nice yet not selectable). Need it because of that 580hp V8.
    - Factory 3" lift
    - A Radio that has buttons on the left for volume and tune, and a AM or FM station comes up when you start the truck (AND NO POP UP SCREENS FOR PIN !!!!!). And 23 Speakers with subwoofer.
    - No subscriptions to make "gadgets" work
    - Locking rear axle with CRAWL/DAC
    - Coil suspension with 5 link rear
    - Anything that is automated has a "Bypass" or "Off" Switch that does not illuminate a light on the dash
    - A step to get into the box that does not look like a add on.
    - A bed light that goes out when you lock the truck with the tailgate down (ya I know I'm dreaming....)
    - A chrome delete option
    - Lotsa storage places with covers - like a 2010 Tundra (3 spots for glasses, under seat storage cover, coin compartment in door, rear door cup holders, etc...)
    - BIG Transmission cooler if I have to go with an automatic. And add a temperature gauge.
    - Oreo cookie dispensers

No doubt. You know Toyota will never do it though, they keep narrowing down the range of Tacoma's that you can get with a manual.

We all know Toyota would think that means we all get $2.00 winner, not the PowerBall as intended.

Hey I’d have bought the Supra for a fun car and kept my 2010 tundra as opposed to buying my 2017 and supercharging it for kicks as I saw the glory days of the V8 era coming to an end. Only problem was they messed that up too. They gave us a pile of German garbage. They’re really good at not giving people what they want. I applaud the other brands for giving people what they want, unfortunately they don’t get the quality part right.

    How this thread will go:

Combine a GMC 3500HD, Ford Raptor and Lexus GX. Manual transmission with a splitter so I can be a real gear jamming road hammer. Supercharge it. Let me get it custom built in any cab/bed configuration possible. Oh, and do it for under $50,000 and make it get 30mpg.

Also any truck with more than a church pew for a seat, 5000lb payload or less than a 10 foot box is for pussies.

    That about sums it up.

A lot of people say that and no one did it. They co developed a car with another car company to share development costs and bring the car back at a reasonable price. Otherwise it’s in NSX money territory. Can’t have it all. I’m surprised they built it at all. Look at which cars sell. It’s not enthusiast cars. It’s daily cars. Good expecting enthusiast cars for daily money isn’t realistic. If we ran car companies they would go broke.

It’s odd Nissan was able to build exactly what the Supra should have been for under 40k. If I were buying a car for that niche now it would be the new Nissan Z with a 400hp V6 and a 6 speed manual. Toyota could have, they just didn’t.

I really wish this was available from the factory. The aftermarket has yet to solve the issue of letting the engine run without the AB60's TCM being present. There's certainly no shortage of suitable transmission options available (even to retain 4x4), it's just the electronics that need sorted.

Toyota NA search engine has this thread - lets try to keep emotions out of it.
Everyone on this forum knows you want more payload. Trust me. If you were shopping a 2.5 I would say go for it no worries if I told you how much weight I have carried just fine with the leaf springs and heavy Open C box. But with the new SUV rear suspension maybe we need to pay attention to the number more.

Trust me I see my 2018 in a new light ! But as long as the market allows me to make $7k as a trade in towards another ...ahem....5.7 liter......

I owned 71 240z (webers) still miss it, 74 260z, 280z, 280zx, 300zx, then first infiniti g35coupe - replaced with a car i still own. It doesn't need a radiator and the engine is where God intended the engine to be located.
Almost bought the first pathfinder years ago but went the 4runner route.

You are zeroing in on my initial thoughts - but I thought shoot for the moon get something less in return.

I agree but if they package it as an available option maybe more profit.

This is your first warning. You may be kicked off the Tundras.com design team. Positive energies only please. 8^0
