Good looking truck. Is that roof rack drilled into the roof?

negative it’s the Spider no drill roof rack. Most likely removing since it won’t fit when we move to the GFC camper

Haha. I had the same thought actually. Curious how it will come off and be reinstalled given it has an adhesive bond to the roof.

This is what I figured. You buy a new set of blocks and epoxy. Rack bolts down to the blocks.

They arrived! Now if I can make it through tomorrow I can install them during a four day weekend.

Hopefully your map light unit comes off easier than mine. I’m going to have to take mine off again and try to bend the bracket up further. There’s a slight gap on the passenger side because of the bent bracket and it’s driving me nuts and I’ve only used the truck once since installing last night. Ooh well. Haha lights are sweet though. My LASFITs were brighter but these have a better color light and the red option is awesome. Reminds me of my days on the ship out to sea.

I wonder if I can use a trim removal tool to get in on each side and help the clips a bit. I need to watch the video on MESO’s website again. Fingers crossed for some good weather so I don’t have to do this in the rain.

The dome was the one I was wondering whether someone could come up with a way to program custom patterns. It can't in its current state, but I did send Meso a note asking what they thought about the idea.

I'll likely keep the LED's I have, but those Meso lights are sexy and there will be a lot of folks that could benefit from a write-up and a list of caveats and potholes.

The way he does it on the video you can tell it takes some force to pull down. I should have taken pictures but I had to put one of the kiddos to bed so I just did it as quickly as I could. If I take it apart to bend it more I’ll try to snap some pictures.

All of it is done in the cab so don’t let the weather stop you.

    Just installed mine tonight.
I didn’t bother to pull the rear one out of the truck. Front could be done in the truck too, but I wanted to see what the back of the overhead thing looked like for some other ideas.

there’s no way to get the map light reflectors out without fucking them up. Just FYI.

They white is definitely brighter than the FyreFly LED bulbs I did have installed.

Looks like he has all three lights on. Could just turn one or more off to drop the brightness.

Hey y'all, I'm moving up to the Issaquah, WA area in July/August this year with my SO. Coming up from Louisiana and planning to stay a couple of years at least. Would like to get any insight on things to look out for in the area.

We are driving up, and plan to tow the gf's car with the Tundra on a U-Haul auto transport trailer (double axle flat) over the course of 3 days.

Should I worry about catalytic converter thieves up there? Haven't run into any problems where I'm from, so I don't have cat shields but will get them if I need them.

Truck is currently stock, running the OEM Michelin LTX AT2 in 275/65/18. Will these tires be adequate for year-round weather in the Seattle (and surrounding) area(s)? We plan to go to many national parks/hikes/road trips to the surrounding states and Canada throughout our time up there, will we need to upgrade tires at some point?

Also, how's the availability of good bourbon in the Seattle and surrounding areas? I like a good store pick, and don't like paying secondary prices. Should I mule up some bottles?

    Welcome!

I am in OR about 3 hours south of Seattle and bought cat plates because lots of Prius (WTF is the plural of Prius? Priuses?) cars have been hit within a couple miles of my house. I would say invest in them as they can also double as skid plates if you are going off on dirt roads etc.

I am running the stock tires and they did well in the snow but I only have ~7,500 miles on them so good deep tread. Others have not had good luck with them once they get some wear on them.

Lots of good bourbon and whiskey in these parts. Some is distilled elsewhere and then blended/bottled here but plenty that are distilled here. Just need to read the label or look it up on the web. Last count I think I have about 20+ bottles of local whiskey or bourbon at the house here. Some are more empty then others!;)

No dimming function, but actually not that bad. I had both rear and both fronts on (like if you opened the doors) and that produces a lot of light. Just turning on one of the lights in red is perfect.
Only thing is that you have to have the lights on before you can switch the color. So if you have them set to white and are driving and a passenger turns one on, your getting a flash of white before they switch it over to red.

On the bourbon - I'm don't know shit about it (more into tequila if I'm drinking hard stuff). But do know that when WA switched away from state-run liquor stores, they took the opportunity to also increase the tax significantly. Decent prices can be found, but it won't be anything like other states I've been to.

Good to know, should probably order them soon and get them installed down here then! Probably hit the underbody with some black rustoleum as well, in case I ever run across some salted roads.

I've got ~2k miles on this set of tires, so should be good for awhile then. Guess I'll have to wait a little longer for an excuse to get some more aggressive tires!

May have to look into finding some honey holes once I move up there.

That's discouraging to hear. Still beats paying secondary, if I can find some nice picks.

    Welcome from E. Wa!

I would stay away from painting your frame, that could flake off and trap moisture. Using fluid film or any other rust preventive grease spray is the way to go.

Never had to use anything like fluid film where I'm from, but I definitely will if it's necessary. Do you suggest spraying it on down here and then driving up with the underbody already coated in July/August? Think it'll last through to Spring 2023?

    • "Look out for..." - What do you mean? Fun things to do? Areas to avoid?
    • Cat Shields - Cat thefts up here make the news all the time. It's a problem, but I don't know if it fully warrants getting a cover. I did and I'm glad I have it...plus as @dpstundra pointed out, it makes a great skip plate.
    • OEM Tires - They work fine until they don't. I'd run them until you notice the performance dropping off and then get something new. Tires are in short supply and are expensive right now...ask me how I know.
    • Bourbon - I'm not a brown fluid drinker, but we have a very expansive Spirits industry here. Lots of choices. Woodinville is about 30 minutes North of Issaquah and has a small industry of distillers so you can go on tasting tours. We also have a number of stores just for wine, beer and booze that carry a huge selection of local stuff at decent prices. However, we tax the phuk out of alcohol (and tobacco) here, so you might want to bring a small stash to hold you over Our alcohol taxes are in the 20-25% range if I remember correctly.
    • Underbody protection - Corrosion is not an issue on this side of the state, so I wouldn't bother doing any protection. Any deicer crap they put down for the few snow days we get each year is washed off by the weeks of rain that follow.

Welcome to the 'hood! Issaquah is a fun area. You have just about the only gas station in the area that has top tier fuel that's non-ethanol!
