Okay, fellas, curious who else has the Gen 3 spartan offering known as the SR either in the driveway or on their radar?
Got a call from my local dealer, he knew I was interested and he had an allocation...I just ordered mine this afternoon in Stormtrooper white, black fabric. MSRP, no bullshit, $41300 out the door with 4WD, dcab and 6.5 bed.
Quote lacked tow pack-$430, should be able to add that on the line.

My only gripe with the SR runt has been the smaller fuel tank, wife reminded me that I actually drive very little these days so I figured why the hell not? Save the serious kwan over the other trims.
I'll toss the steelies and will pick up some TRD takeoffs. probably in 16" to use hoops from my current Gen 1. My 10 plies are spankin' new, as are my studded snows. So the tires are covered-- and the e-rated's are darn near identical in rolling and width size to the factory 18's.
Maybe down the line I'll add the 32 gallon tank.

    Build date is 2/14. Stoked!

It’s on my radar simply because it offers the highest payload.
Since you’re planning on adding a hitch, are you planning to add an aftermarket brake controller?

Good question.....I do some towing, but over the years I've never towed over about 5-6000lbs and haven't had the need for the controller. I'll just roll with the factory hitch setup.

    Understood. Thanks again.
I’m planning to tow over 5000 lbs so I’d need one but could add an aftermarket one like I currently have on our 2012 Tacoma.
However, I don’t even think Toyota is allocating any SR’s to any Canadian dealers at the moment anyway. LOL

    That's too bad.

After calling every dealer within 12 hours drive, I'd all but given up on a white or silver SR, and figured I'd just roll sr5 with Off-road etc.--spend the extra 10K+/-..
But the local dealer called and damned if he didn't get one allocated for mid march.

Dealers have gotten a few, but all long beds and in black. In fact there is one sitting at Parker Toyota in CDA, yep--black with a 8.1 bed.

The base SR comes well equipped. Let us know your thoughts on it when you get it.

Sounds like an awesome truck. However I don’t believe 16” wheels will fit on the truck because of the caliper, rotor diameter, and brake dust shield. I could be wrong, but I think 17s are the smallest you can go.

I’m a potential SR buyer. The interior is more than enough for me and better than every vehicle I have owned with possibly the exception of my current truck. I had a 2013 base model Tundra and bought take off rims and never looked back. It was black and the bumper and grill surround were black so it looked right. There is a video on here of the storm trooper SR and I think it looks right also. Upgrade the wheels and you’re good

You're missing out on some power with the SR. That's about the only thing pushing me to an SR5. And Crewmax with 6.5 bed.

Yep, I'm okay with 348 horse. It'll be by far the most powerful setup I've ever owned, thinking it will be fine.
Have heard that the SR might be a bit more fuel efficient, about 1mpg more, we'll report when possible.

I test drove a CM 6.5 Limited a couple of weeks ago, it's a helluva truck--a chunk. But it drives much smaller imho...

Any chance you could post a link to that stormtrooper vid? I've looked here and can't find it...

Got a deposit on the same truck. I got the tow package, floormats, charger for phone and sadly toyoguard platinum which i didnt want. $44380 total on mine. Thats a lot of money for a ‘base’ truck and i worry about resale down the road. Most sr5 are coming in around 50+ It seems.

I am about 14 years from retirement and hate to buy another truck but my current f150 is on its third engine and i dont trust it. I am hoping these turbo and parking brake issues are worked out by the time mine arrives (mid feb).

I might do some new wheels if i can get someone elses takeoffs for cheap. I really want a nice stereo so i have been looking at dsp upgrades for the factory unit.

I hear ya. With the power coming in at a lower RPM, it'll probably feel peppier than the 5.7.

    Not really,
My 2020 SR5 was 34k out the door. No reason an SR should be above 40... even as a third gen.

    Yep reality, my friend.
The '22 SR 4WD is more akin equipment-wise to the '21 SR5 which stickered at $39K --and dealers never let them go for that here. Normal pricing was closer to $41K. I know this because I've researched for 15 months. This usually didn't include the SR5 upgrade package (console shift) aka bench seat was the bottom line, no pun intended..

If I opt for the Bilsteins, etc, I'll do so for a fraction of the package cost.

Betting that by the end of '22 the average delivered Tundra cost--from basic SR to Capstone/TRD Pro--will be $57-58K per truck, not including markups. Hell, the average SR5 could be close to that much with markups.

i do wonder how inventory will affect prices. Toyota dealers never seem to put 10k worth on incentives on the hood like the domestics.

So....full disclosure ...'out the door' is the cost of truck, destination fees, options (spray-in liner, floor mats) NOT TAXES. we pay 6% here in Idaho.
i don't want to mislead in any way. My final cost may mirror yours with taxes.

I test drove a Limited CM with 6.5 4WD last week, that sucker stickered at $59,800, with taxes $63K --no flippin' way.
Other than the steelies, this 'base' truck would have been loaded 10 years ago.

Um.... actually I told myself at the start of the covid thing / Tundra debut that I wouldn't pay a cent of markup, and haven't. I covered that in my first posting. Hey, reading -- it's fundamental.

EDIT...well *Poof* your posting is gone; that was easy 68rs75z28
    ...
    Wow, moron doesn't cover it.
Maybe I should write this in crayon for you.... I'm paying 41,393 exactly for a 2022 SR DC with 4WD. VSPEC attached for my build, vin is cropped out. This will include a spray in liner, floor mats, and destination charge. There is no markup on this truck period. You're an idiot to maintain that there is based on nothing but stupidity.

The tow package *should* be added and that would add $430.
Taxes go to Idaho, not Toyota. I may or may not pay them at dealership, possibly at DMV. tbd.

Now show proof that you paid $34000 for a new 2020 SR5 DC. If that's 4WD anyway..... put up or shut up. I won't hold my breathe.

Moving on with you, if I want to interact with clowns I'll head to the circus or the White House/Congress.

I’ve got my popcorn ready. Glad you got a good deal on a very nice truck. I learned a long time ago that you can only expect of yourself to get a great deal on a truck, house, boat, whatever in the market that you are in at the time. No sense in comparing something that happened 18 months ago with all that has happened in the last 18 months. I watched the house next door sell twice in 9 months within the last 14 months. The first guy got crazy money for the house and 9 months later the second guy got 120k more. The first guy still sold in a sellers market and got great money for the house ( his wife has been a realtor for 30 years so I’m sure of it) but the market had changed so much in 9 months that the second guy made that much more. I bought a Gladiator in Fall 2020- forced myself to buy because they had discontinued the color I wanted and inventory was extremely low. I had no leverage so i didn’t get a great deal but still a few thousand under MSRP. Fast forward to today and my deal looks great, but it still was not a great deal. I bought what I wanted with no leverage and had to pay for it. Based on what I’ve been reading if you can get MSRP for a Tundra in todays market you did about as good as you can ask for. If you had an overinflated trade as part of the deal and got crazy money for it the argument could be made that overall you got a great deal in todays market. The people without the trade are in a tough spot but MSRP is still a good deal in todays market

I should add the house was not a flip and no noticeable improvements were made to the property during those 9 months. The people ( elderly couple) just decided to go in another direction

Yep, couldn't agree more; thanks for your thoughts on this Shackleton.

If a guy hasn't (even casually) watched the truck market over the last 20-some months, he'd be completely aloof to what has gone re. insane pricing. And as you alluded, it's even more so with the housing and real estate markets.

I could afford any trim level '22 Tundra. But there's something about value that I find hard to let go. This truck will serve me well, and I'll dial it like any garden variety '22 Off-Road package--skids, Bilsteins, etc,--sans the $6000 Sr5 and Off-road pkg option add-ons.

Btw, I have a nice Gen 1, low miles A-Cab 4WD. But I'll probably not trade it, I have a few neighbors fighting for that truck.
