Didn’t have the balls to try it, although I wanted to. Only a 30min drive from my front door down a dirt road. I just unhooked the utility trailer, parked the camper, then backed up to the utility trailer

After 1800+ miles from Main to South Dakota I picked up this sweet little rig in Sioux Falls. Dragging it across South Dakota to Custer for the new business. I want to say I can’t really feel it back there, but the 20 to 30 mile an hour headwinds won’t allow me to say that LOL

Incoming TT is a Grand Design Imagine 2400BH. Specs note that it is 96" wide. I'd like to avoid installing permanent tow mirrors; want to keep the sport look of the stock ones.

I can relate. I don't want to change my mirrors either. When I towed it with my Tacoma, I could never find good snap on towing mirrors. The Tundra and it's mirrors just barely work for my situation. I wouldn't mind if they were a touch wider for towing, but they work. Just try it out with your new trailer and see how it goes.

The 2400BH is a nice trailer. I hope you enjoy it!

We tow a Keystone Outback, also 96", and the stock mirrors are fine for us. We can see either lane well back behind the trailer, and I've installed a rear camera on the trailer which lets me see all lanes behind it. Longer mirrors would let us see the lanes on either side to the horizon, I suppose, but what we have, with the camera, is quite workable. Our Tundra is a 2018; maybe that matters.

    1 or 2... I lost count
Like others have said, you can see all that you really need to see. Tundra non tow mirrors are almost exactly 96" tip to tip so you are basically the same width as the trailer. I towed a Grand Design Imagine 17MKE and the only thing that I personally did not like is that anything directly behind the trailer when you are moving straight you cannot see. But, if you don't care how many people are behind you, there is more than enough visibility for lane changes and all that.

The rear view camera on the trailer is huge even with tow mirrors. I personally added the power tow mirror because I didn't like how long the truck was with no side markers anywhere until the trailer, and I liked the added size of the glass since I watch them almost as much as I am forward when towing. But that's just me.

Congrats on the 2400bh, btw. We have a 2020 2800bh and love everything about it.

Did the first tow with the mirrors and damn it makes such a difference. I don’t really need them but the visibility doesn’t compare to the stock mirrors, it’s that much better.

I am in my 2nd towing trip, to Roebling Road Raceway near Savannah, GA in my 2020 Tundra Approximately 180 miles, trip there average 11.5 mpg, mostly interstate at 70 but some back roads too. [Edit: just got home, o the way home I got 13 mpg for the first 70 miles, then 12.5 for the remaining miles. This time I set the cruise at the speed limit, vs 3-4 above like before, and didn't pass as many people. On a 180 mile trip that saved me a little under 2 gallons. And it took about 10-15 minutes longer over the 3 hour trip. I was curious to see, next time I may spend the extra few $ for the extra two gallons :) ] First trip with transmission cooler, transmission temp stayed right at 188-190 along with oil and TC, except for brief raises in TC temp which came back very fast. Coolant right at 198-199.

One highlight, on the way up, I moved to middle Lane of interstate for merging traffic, a mustang was at the back of the traffic and there was a tiny spot ahead of me to merge. I started to move all the way to the 3rd left lane to make more room, since the lead merging traffic was very slow, and the mustang gunned it (was raining), his back end went out, and he fishtailed for a few moments across multiple Lanes before they (the computer?) Got things under control. By then I had dropped way back. It was a good save! I wish I had a dashcam!

It is 32-33F this morning, cold and wet!!

I know you posted this a while back but just wanted to check the weight of your trailer and how the Tundra handles it. Looking to rent a trailer this summer to go camping with the family and this looks like one of the few available that isn't over 30 feet.

Does your trailer have a slide? The one we're looking to rent does.

Check out the dometic milenco. There are several versions of mirror shapes. I’ve used mine (aero3 I believe)on a Honda CR-V, Honda Odyssey, and now my FGT. They’ve worked great on all the vehicles with no vibrating

Upgraded from our first 18 ft travel trailer to a 2022 imagine xls 21bhe.
Didn’t get the chance to try it yet , all covered till next spring.
I did tow it for 4 hours when bringing it back home , tundra did great .
I hope the new trailer will be as good as the old one we had ( had it for 3 years , 2009 eco Dutchmen) everything worked flawlessly and kids loved it and towed great behind the tundra .
It was a good rig to learn on , we had our third baby last may and I can’t keep packing them in the small one , no more space :)

Great choice, and congrats on baby #3!

I know I'll have to bump up a size in a few more years when my kids get bigger and this is roughly the size I'm considering. My only concern with them is whether the dinette is a 2 or a 4 person. We are largely outside when camping, but have had the off day where it's either too warm or too cold to be outside all day and we'll go in for lunch, dinner, or to play a game around the table.

    thank you .
The dinette is ok for 4 and you can add a small foldable stool for additional seat.
Like you said , we spend our time outside most of the time , but man did I miss having some extra space last year when it was raining, it surely is nice now to have the extra space and bunk beds are great and sleeps 4 Easy .
The restroom and shower sold me out and the fact it didn’t have a slide out

Had to rent a tandem axle hydraulic trailer and park the work van at home and bring in the Tundra. Had to move out of our shop because it's been leased, our new shop is a month behind schedule. Since I live in the country and not a subdivision or apartment I get the fork lift, everything else went into pods. This bad boy was 8400 pounds.

    Bump!

Hi all, let me first apologize for not going through this entire thread to get my answers, but I do have some basic towing questions and I'm thinking this is the place to get answers.

I have a 2011 5.7L Tundra and this is my first time towing anything heavy with it. I'm going to be towing a UHaul trailer that weighs 2000lbs empty. We are not going to load it up with heavy stuff, just some basic bedroom items so the overall weight of the loaded trailer will probably be less than 3000lbs. My Tundra has the 4:10 gears and is not equipped with the towing package, I also have the 25gal tank.

    Basic Questions:

    1. What should my tire pressure be? I have Falken Wildpeak LTs (10 ply) on all four corners.

    2. Using tow-haul, how should I drive my Tundra, should I keep it in automatic or should I use the manual shift option?

Also, I do have a DAP Tune, will this affect how I tow?

Thanks for your input, much appreciated!

It will ride pretty harsh I bet inflated to max with so little weight being towed but you do have E range tires and they like to be aired up.

I would see how it feels without T/H engaged and then try with and see what you prefer, this is not really all that heavy for the truck at all.

You will feel it I am sure but it will be a smooth drive too I bet.

I drove the big UHaul over the summer loaded up heavy for 3K miles or so and it was not a big deal except in the Mountains where I just had to not get run over by other idiots everywhere at any speed.

I only downshift manually to slow down on long descents and it worked well.

    Are you in the "Chill"?

Yes, we got snow here today!! and yes I'm in Razorback country! Thanks for your input. I usually drive around with the tire pressure at 40psi and these tires seem to be very happy and are wearing great (rotating them every oil change). I'll certainly pump the tires up to 80lbs if that's the best way to tow this trailer. As you may have guessed, I don't tow much and I have not towed anything heavy with my Tundra

My niece graduated and stayed and is in Springdale so I get down there sometimes from STL,we got it Yesterday and Today too!

You can sure try lower pressures and see how much better it rides but trust me when you pick that trailer up empty it will bounce and tug all over the place and you will like it a lot once you get weight into it!
I would try 55 maybe and see how it feels.

Mine are not E Falkens and I run them a lot lower than 80 but even towing heavy they give a really nice ride all the time really.

Thanks for the pic, that's the trailer I'm gonna be towing. That's somewhat of a rare Tundra you have, is that a 6&1/2' bed?

Edit, I see you have two RCLBs... nice
