That grille

For me one of the worst styling elements of the new Tundra is the grill, mostly when the black grill contrasts with the body color although I don't mind it so much on darker colors like mag gray or black. I know some of you like it but I guess I am used to my Tacoma Sport with the body colored grill. Looks like the Tundra Sport also gets a body colored grill but that trim lacks availability of some of the amenities I want. So I am just curious if anyone here has looked into replacing the black grill with a body colored one (if they can even be ordered already painted?) or considered getting the black one sprayed to match?

 

You can get the “chrome” surrounds in factory applied paint options but I’m not sure on the grill. Personally, I don’t think it looks that bad. It is big as hell in pictures though. Not quite so bad in person and on the appropriate colors.

 

I just looked at the configurator again and it seems like the Platinum trim has body colored grill... maybe not really body color but looks like it may be painted a metallic gray or silver?? So if I eventually get a Tundra I'll have to decide how much I am willing to pay to get rid of that black BUG (big ugly grill) grill. But at least it seems possible.

 

Mine has the chrome and I’m not a fan. So I’ll going to wrap it in color match (as close as possible) or gloss black to go with the mirrors and handles

 

What trim range Tundra do you have that has a chrome grill?

 

The Sr5’s have dumb chrome and it’s on the back bumper. Mine is the TRD Off-road
