So I've been looking at a replacement head unit for a while. I've replaced literally everything else in my system.

One thing that holds me back from blowing $500+ on something is the XM capability. Nearly every unit I've been interested in (Kenwood, Dasaita, Alpine) is XM ready but not XM "included" lol meaning I'll have to buy an XM module in addition to a Maestro and the head unit.

Is there any unit out there truly PnP when it comes to XM?

So you don’t want to use the SXV300 and the idatalink retention cable to keep your GPS/SAT antenna? I don’t think anything aside from the Toyota HU is compatible with your existing Toyota XM tuner.

I'd like to just hook up an XM ready head unit to the OEM XM tuner and antenna. No new XM equipment.

I don’t think an all-in-one solution exists. You can usually find a rebate that makes the tuner “free” after 60 days, if price is the main issue.

What's keeping integration from happening? The stock antenna can't connect to the aftermarket head unit? An adapter is needed?

Likely an agreement on discounted tuners to the car manufacturers and encryption or something like that being in the stock tuners. Just a guess though.

Honestly, the Siruis/XM sounds much better off a phone app than the satellite signal of a tuner.
I have a Kenwood HU with the SiriusXM SXV300 tuner.
    I NEVER use the tuner.
When I listen to Sirius/XM I use the app on my iPhone with wireless Carplay.
Granted it is a little harder to navigate than the tuner, but I only listen to 7 or 8 XM stations that are in my favorites.

Whether you have an iPhone or Android, I would suggest a HU of your choice (I'd recommend Kenwood, then Pioneer) with wireless capabilities for either and run it.
SiriusXM SXV300 tuner only costs $75 or so, free with new service.

SiriusXM SXV300V1 Tuner Enjoy SiriusXM satellite radio with your compatible aftermarket or factory radio (subscription sold separately by SiriusXM) at Crutchfield

The only reason I have a SiriusXM SXV300 tuner is in case I lose cell service and can't use the app.
That has yet to happen and I run in it 4 states...

I have the seperate tuner in 3 or 4 vehicles and never paid for any of them, there are usually free deals for them when you buy a radio.
Not sure why they are not all compatible but its just the way it is yet the XM version does seem to work with any aftermarket radio too?

And I run all over the country and need the tuner myself and will never get away with using a phone to scream XM,just not an option for me and many others.

I use the SXM phone app 90% of the time, but on road trips or going off road, the tuner is the only way to get any reliable signal.

I suppose a new XM tuner is the only way to go :notsure:

I have yet to see any deals where the thing is free though.

It doesn’t look like they’ve released a 2022 offer code yet, but watch this page or check Crutchfield for an updated offer.

SiriusXM SXV300V1 Tuner Enjoy SiriusXM satellite radio with your compatible aftermarket or factory radio (subscription sold separately by SiriusXM) at Crutchfield

$70 rebate for NEW service, and even with that, the rebate is a crappy VISA prepaid card...

    Save your way
Purchase the SiriusXM SXV300V1 Satellite Radio Tuner with a new subscription and after 60 days of continuous paid service receive a $70 SiriusXM Visa® Prepaid Card from SiriusXM.

Plus, get 3 months free Platinum service or 12 months for $99 when you purchase a monthly Platinum Plan. For subscription offer details, visit http://www.siriusxm.com/nevermissabeat.

Offer ends 12/31/2022. Eligibility/Continuing Conditions: Offer not valid on pre-owned radios, or on radios or tuners that replace an existing radio or tuner on an account. Limit 1 rebate per radio, 3 per address. If activating the radio with a 3 months free trial subscription, you must maintain at least 60-days of paid service after the trial period ends to qualify for the rebate. For complete terms and conditions and to redeem the rebate online, visit www.sxmrebates.com and enter offer #21-30941.

You can also view or print the rebate form. (You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this PDF file; if you don't already have Acrobat Reader on your computer, you can download it for free.) A rebate form will also be sent with your invoice packet; typically via email.

If you have an existing account you're stuck paying for the tuner.
The problem with this offer is paying full price for the service.
I've been paying $5 a month for a few years..
Was paying $25 a month for several years (back in the O&A days) until I called to cancel it, then they offered $5 a month..
$5 a month is really all XM/Sirius is worth these days with so many other online options..
