1st Gen. Lunch Table - General Discussion

So bringing this back up, I spent almost the entire shift on this. I was told that the sump pump was bolted to the back wall of the sump. I fought the pump I was using to drain the sump. Cleaned I don't know how many paint chips out of the intake hose of the pump, primed it countless times, and cleaned screens. Fought that all day.

Finally got the damned tank drained, and then took the four flange bolts off the pipe, and the pump fell straight onto the floor of the sump. Could have been done in 30 minutes had I known it was just hanging off the pipe... Oh well. Spilled milk, and ruined clothes...

 

I’m in and out of disgusting cars a lot. I’m sure my immune system is built differently lol. I rarely get sick to begin with. But I’m also not stupid about keeping myself safe as I can. That’s been all my life.

 

They’re starting to close schools I’ll be dripping a couple faucets as well

 

I’m guessing everyone have the cold weather type outdoor faucets where the stem goes back like 16” to the seat so it’s not as cold further inside the wall, is that still not enough when it’s that cold, and the drip method is next in the arsenal?

 

Never had to drip a faucet, but supposedly moving worter doesn't freeze!

My house was built in the 1880’s with field stone foundation so when it gets down to 0* it pretty hard to keep it above freezing down in the cellar. I’ve had a couple pipes freeze and stop flow but haven’t burst any on the domestic water thawed them before they burst. I did however freeze and break one of my cast iron radiators after I installed my pellet stove. That was a boner move on my part. I do have frost free outside faucets but I don’t trust them so isolated them with drain back ball valves

 

Weak for me so far, I’ve been in close contact with 3 positive coworkers and my daughter. I can’t get it yet or need to test again to see. Mom (wife) and sister’s brother (son) can’t get it either and tested again this am. It’s more contagious, but half or less the strength of delta.

That makes perfect sense. Super high flammability/refined solvent nature with some alcohol cleaning nature.

 

Trying this. Using half the supplies and half the directions. I could spend way more time with the 3K grit, but wanted to slam and jam and see.

 

So what is the final step in this kit?

I don’t think they last either. I’ve had fair results with 1000-3000 wet paper and wax. Also doesn’t last but cheap. The progression is cleaner that pulls a bunch of yellow stuff. Probably not necessary. 1000 then 3000 then dry and wipe with the sealer. This is so cheap I thought I would run it as a maintenance item. And, the way I’m halving the supplies, it’s 6-10 bucks a pop. I’ll let you know if it sucks. Can’t say yet.

 

I think I did like 1000 or 1500 wet and then sprayed my moms rav4 headlights, I don’t think I’ve touched them in 2+ years

 

What got me trying it was no taping and wipe the final step on. Super lame way to look at it, but I’m busy, lol.

I have no idea if this stuff works and lasts, but experience tells me it will be good for a little while at least.

 

Actually where I am the pipes were run along the back wall of the building so there's little insulation to shield it.

Typical houses in this area have the pipes come in below the frost line into the basement before its run through the rest of the house.

Whats even worse is my gas furnace is in the attic and on a windy night, the pilot light gets blown out and I need to go there to relight it. Not fun.

 

Hahah as a hvac person, that’s frightening!!!! How old is your furnace?!?!!! If it’s older than your grandma, it should be replaced!!!

 

I’ve not been looking forward to pulling my front bumper. Needs welds, grinds, spray, etc. But this showed up today.

 

I think the building was built in rhe 80s.. I seriously don't know what they were thinking. Supposedly it was originally apartments later turned privately owned town homes.

 

I think the newer versions are improved, but make sure the free spool works “ok” sometimes the lube they use turns to glue and is not advantageous to freespooling, I completely disassembled the gear box, soaked and cleaned it, and regreased with high temp red. Also it won’t freespool is the line anchor point is tightened with no line under the bolt……

 

Thanks! I didn’t understand that last part about line anchor point. I still have to figure out clocking as well. Limited space and all. I’ll break the thing down. I’ll take any more advice

 

Finally heading home after my 4 day stint in the big town. Off for one day and then back to it.

 

So how the rope/cable attaches to the drum, there is a bolt that holds it to the drum, it has to be out for the drum to free spool, I’m a idiot and made a stink that mine was jammed……… it was just that stupid anchor point for the beginning of the line……
You running synthetic? I’ll look for the link, but there is a stupid thing so you don’t unspool to far/keeps your spool locked in when your fully spooled out.
Also, winches are just like tires; the more line your have on your spool, acts just like 44”super swampers……. Makes the motor work super hard to spin them. If you spool out(making Your tires and load on the motor smaller) the motor is able to pull that load soooo much easier. Same concept how a snatch block reduces the load by almost 2x. I’ve read a lot of people running shorter winch spools, and then carrying extensions to get to where they need to be; just so you have less load and max power from your winch………
