I know it was true for you, I am skeptical for future purchases.
I get that it is "cheap" relative to a frame, but I don't see toyota going out and starting to reimburse everyone who buys PRO headlights lol
I just dont want to buy them and then be stuck with the cost because toyota changed their mind.

For me it is a mod later down the road (got SP and light bar installation first) and then it is the headlight/fog lights. Like some say, its a good addition, getting paid to do it is even better, like icing on the cake.

I was only waiting to upgrade to see what Toyota was going to do for the recall.

Well.. Just got off the phone with toyota... They said they would not cover the LED headlights and only cover parts that are effected after inspection. :( So there went this idea.

Too bad I couldn't get reimbursed for the expensive ass Morimoto Xb's that I installed back in Sept 2020. I did get a recall notice a while back.

I would say give it a try, worst case is a no and you still have an awesome set of headlights to use.

I may just do that. I will have to figure out hownto track down the card statement from back then. It may be on the site. I could tell Toyota that it would save them labor and they could close out the recall on my VIN.

I understand that.. but I also don't want to be left high and dry after they deny it. Quite surprising they did that.
If by chance, could you PM a reference number if I decide to call them back and fight it?

I wouldn't call them and create a deeper interest in it on their side. I would just file for it and see what happens.

You guys are not understanding that the recall letter states compensation may be due if the swap occurred before the recall notice, not after. All of yall that are rushing out and buying headlights now will be in for a surprise when they say not covered. I hope to be wrong but OP perhaps you should clarify your first post as it may be giving false hope...

Edit: I found my notice, here is what it says.

I will add that based on your first post I did submit a claim not knowing you did your purchase prior to the notice. I purchased my lights after the notice and don't expect compensation based on the official notice. But I will also report back on Toyota's response once I hear back. It would be awesome if they cover the costs but I'm not betting on it.

    Too many, but not enough....
this does not make sense to me, they would pay for upgraded headlights before there was a known problem, but not after you know there is a problem and essentially fix it yourself since they dont even have a solution? Seems like they are just rewarding people who mod their trucks for fun lol. Thankfully I fall into this category so I am going to try to get some money.

Because they want it to break before it gets fixed... because they dont have a fix yet. It makes no sense.

I am going to try this. I'll find my paperwork and submit it. Might as well try. No harm in doing that.

So is this a wiring issue or a headlight issue? Asking because I bought a set of halogen headlights off a 21 Tundra to put on my 15 Tundra. Unfortunately ihacker referred me to headlight revolution for a harness. But I just want to make sure I’m not setting myself up for failure instead of an upgrade.

What info did you submit? What was used for the repair order info? I found my credit card statement so I want to get started on mine. You can PM if that's easier. Thanks.
