So I got rid of my Chevy 2500 with the 6.5' bed. I really need to be able to put some recovery straps, first aid kit, etc... in the truck. So my options are...
    1. ESP plastic storage
    2. A slim fit UWS toolbox (and lose truck bed space)
    3. Something like a bakflip that has an option to add a toolbox (flipping expensive)

When I got hunting I do like to flip the seats up and carry my clothes in plastic bins and its just easier to get them out from there instead of the bed. So what do yall think??? I'm kind of leaning towards the ESP metal 3 compartment storage but just looking for other views

Guess it depends on how you use your truck most of the time. I keep debating getting one because it would come in handy for my work
(Tool belt, power and hand tools) but I would lose bed space and my tonneau cover. Plastic storage bin would be fine I bet

Am I correct in thinking you lose the tie hooks with the swing case?

Trail edition boxes are working out well for me. Some claim leaks, mine haven't leaked. My second choice, definately under rear seat. It is wasted space, most secure and dry. Preserves bed space, never know when you might need that space.

I cant live without my Shell personally but we each have different needs so you are on your own in the end.

If you are using space for stuff that you need it is never wasted space?

I think the underseat metal ESP is gonna be the way to go. That way, I keep my bed space, and I keep my inside space since I can just close the lid and put my stuff on top of it. I will say the swingcase is still in the running though

    ESP storage is killer.

As for exterior storage, I couldn't find a toolbox that was narrow enough for me and also worked with my rack system, and so for the items I only occasionally want or need, I ended up with two 81mm ammo cans, primed and covered with Seymour truck bed coating, mounted to the rails using T-slot nuts off Amazon and some spacers, and then some ammo can padlock studs off eBay. Was about $100 all-in. I think it's about 6" deep. No leaks and has worked for me.

You could always make own under statage out if seeving trays ply wood and some cloth off Amazon or just cut under seats the size of straos for custom fit

Stainless steam pans like used in buffets are the ticket.

I plan to do those and will likely put most things in zip loc bags to prevent rattle and to also be able to put dirty items back without cross contamination. I like minimal maintenance.
