oh my gosh ! I should of known that I had just replaced one in another vehicle. I think my mind is going numb over analyzing this new Tundra but it is enjoyable to learn what they did with this redesign. I guess i tend to over analyze things when i am making such a large investment.

it seems the tfl 2022 truck of the year was based on price . they were comparing a $60,000 truck to a $30,000 mid size truck.

My F150 Platinum has a very nice digital guage cluster with a digital oil pressure guage. Its normal running pressure is just below half way. It was always so consistent. I later learned that Ford reports its oil pressure using a simple switch. It displays it as either OK or low. It does not give an actual reading. Same with the needle guages for oil pressure on the lower trims.

Where is the 22 being wrapped? I watched that vid and see the white TRD Pro 2.5 gen but never see a 22 being wrapped.

As someone who has driven a lot in fresh snow on access roads - nannies are your enemy. Turning them off is a must, they either kill the engine or apply brakes at the worst times. I like nannies on the highway, but slow speed or breaking trail anything more than ABS is an annoyance

It's pretty fun to watch someone struggle with them on, then jump in and put it in 4Lo and get out of a jam pretty easily. New vehicles are very capable if you know how to use them, but too many people don't know and just drive thinking the vehicle will computer it's way out.

Just wanted to put something out there for some help. I've been probably going way overboard on the new Tundra - videos, forums, reviews, articles, etc. As we know, the intraweb is full of opinions and it's messing with my mind. I was pretty keen on the 2022 Tundra - I have a CrewMax SR Sport in Blueprint due end of March (apparently). In Canada there's not as many bespoke options, but it comes with most of what I want (heated seats, camera, 4x4, brake controller) and I was pretty keen. But with all the chat about tow hooks and turbos I'm losing my go-go juice. The Silverado RST is looking like a good option with either a 3.0 diesel or 5.3 and I like the looks.

I guess what I'm looking for is any concise, real thoughts from those perhaps with experience of both and whether the Tundra is truly a step up. It's my first Toyota and I'm coming from a 2013 Ram 1500 Sport 5.7. Honestly, until I read all the stuff on tow hooks I didn't know I needed them. I'm an urban/rural cruise, logging roads and trailer towing guy who likes to take stuff to the dump. I don't mean to reignite debates, but I'm drowning in the information and unfortunately can't go test drive one here yet (though I did get to sit in a new one to at least get a feel).

    Random musings complete.

I drive it and was impressed, but nothing super special, it drives like a big Tacoma which I think is a good thing and the video and rear view camara was slick.

I’m coming from a wrangler with manual locks and roll up windows so tech is new to me. I watch a ton of videos as well, but in person I like the way it looks and was happy with test drive. I just need my build to show and I’ll be able to speak more to the actual ownership experience

Depends where you are, test drive options exist in Ont, Orangeville, Newmarket London & Waterloo too I think. I recommend a drive in one if you haven’t yet.

Okay, I've been somewhat critical of the new release (mainly because it's so damned ugly) and I am still livid over the complete piece of garbage Sienna that Toyota stuck with me with long ago but I wouldn't let those things bother you. I would hate to be the only one having an issue with a Toyota with a defect or design flaw (again) but all of these issues are front page news. Toyota will fix it and I wouldn't let that stuff get to me. You'll be fine. If you set yourself up with a good deal, I think you'll regret blowing it up. On the other hand, if you're facing having to pay over sticker and don't keep your vehicles long, then maybe go ahead and get the Cheby.

You should probably hop on the GM Trucks forum and read about all the issues they're having with lifters, wiring harnesses and God knows what else on the Silverados before you write off the Tundra.

Yeah indeed. Plan more research and nothing is perfect. Certainly not writing off the Tundra yet as I think it seems awesome, but hard to separate the wheat from the chaff sometimes.

No, won't pay over sticker here. I'd surprised if that happened up here honestly, though I'll keep my eyes open for BS 'administration' fees.

Their ranking is valid, like it or not but the new Tundra does not offer better value for the money than the new Ford Maverick.

I too would like a new truck, but I don't need a new truck. The 22 tundra doesn't check enough boxes for me to just buy one without driving it.
I have decided to wait it out. Right now you can't get a great deal on a truck, and it's difficult to even find a truck to test drive. I am going to wait for inventory to increase, and the hybrid to be released before making my decision

I am in a similar boat as you are. I am coming from a 2017 Honda Ridgeline that did everything I needed to do, but now I’m needing a bigger truck. Was really sold on the Tundra and the idea of the third generation, until I saw it, saw some of the limitations, and some of the options or lack of options here in Canada. So I started researching and reading all of the GM forums and I’m really taken by the 2022 refreshed AT4 with the Duramax diesel engine. From what I’ve read, it seems this engine doesn’t suffer from the lifter problem that the V8’s do.

    Hope that helps.

Thats kind of what i am starting to think. I dont drive nearly as much as i used to. Higher mileage preformance was what brought me to the tundra at first.
