60ish or less is where you get better gas mileage. Not a vehicle design issue, an aerodynamics issue. Somewhere over 55mph is where wind resistance really starts to cause significant drag on the vehicle. The faster you go, the harder you have to fight the wind resistance. And it has a bit of an exponential effect. Even a few more mph takes a lot more power to overcome. If the truck was tear drop shape it would be more effective at slicing through the wind and yield better high speed efficiency.

I drove to Florida Tuesday and kept it around 75mph most of the way. I averaged 15-16mpg. We get worse MPG with winter blend gas right? One thing I noticed is that for the first 3-4 hours my trans temps wouldn't get above 118 because it was so cold out. I need one of those thermostats for the trans cooler apparently.

That right there is a damn miracle. I had to send two back and gave up and drove the hour and a half down to Summit to pick one up in person. Should have just done that the first time knowing how many folks had broken tube necks and inlets.

I still need to figure out how to get scangauge to tell me trans temp. All my attempts at entering codes have failed to report anything useful. Might you happen to have a link to something new I can try next time?

There's a whole forum for that out there. Supposedly you can increase your mpg up to 13% with one of these aerodynamic shells...

I can't help with Scangauge unfortunately. I use OBDII and the Torque Pro app.

you have to lower the vehicle also, that shell alone won’t do much. It’s about the competition between the air moving above and the air moving below the vehicle. Also smoothing the path below the vehicle to help with the air movement. Skid plates for the win!!

If you managed to get it in that pristine of condition, AND it's not a counterfeit, you really need to go to the store and buy 10 lottery tickets today. If you win, please consider contributing a meager 5-10% of your share to my retirement. I stopped trying to ship radiators, odds are not even 50/50 you'll get it undamaged unless the warehouse is extremely close by.

I thought the 2.7 also had a belt, and there was a change somewhere around the 2000s? You're the Toyo mech, so I trust you, just curious if this isn't the case. It's just what I've got in the back of my head.

It's always been a curiosity of mine why the 2.7L is much closer (almost identical) to the 3.4L in MPG, and the 2.4L stands so much farther away from both. 0.3L displacement isn't significant enough to result in a 20-30% MPG boost in my mind.

I think I saw where you showed this. I've been thinking about it, if for no other reason than to stop by damn keys from slapping the dash on bump roads, which in ATL, is pretty much everywhere.

Yup. Ever since I moved to ATL, I just make the 30ish minute drive south to Summit @ McDonough any time I need a radiator. Buy online when a discount code comes up, then run down there to get it.

A lot of people claim you can gain 1-2MPG just from adding a tonneau. I guess I'll be testing that theory soon.

You guys are making me nervous now lol. I’ll have to go over it with a fine tooth comb to make sure there are no cracks by any inlet/outlets.
I believe the shipping gods are on my side as I basically am on UPS/FEDEX’s route everyday. Sometimes they slow down in front of my house only to realize they don’t have a package for me which doesn’t happen often at all. Lol

There is "HazMat" and a separate "ORM" other regulated material category. Technically they were likely answering is it Hazmat? (No). But highly possibly ORM, not requiring a HazMat label. Been a few years since I was HazMat handling certified, but I wouldn't think that basic difference has changed.

I skipped that endorsement on the CDL testing b/c I figured since I'm only ever hauling horses I don't have to think or care about hazardous materials. That and tank stuff, seems like real trucking. Though air brakes (or maybe brakes in general) are not a strength yet, don't really feel like I could fix anything on the road with duct tape in a pinch.

ORM classification/labeling for low qty went away/changed for start of 21. They changed the labeling and rules overall to be more relaxed than previously. Now its just covered under Limited Quantity provisions under CFR title 49 from what i was digging last week (ive been out of daily shipping for years as well)

I guess if you're single and out to impress, possibly a lot.

If you're stuck in an endless pit of a marriage with no way out, maybe not so much.

Also, when you reach a certain maturity in life with nothing to look forward to except maybe death, I'm willing to bet you probably don't care at all.

Got my desert does it seat jackers installed after yesterdays fail. Bought a couple of new bolts and chased the threads. Still don't have all my energy back from the chinaronavid, but not near as taxing as yesterday's try. Have not driven in the truck yet, but initial impressions aren't great. Seems to boost me up too high, maybe half or a third as much of an increase would be better. I will really have to lean down to see stop lights, wasn't the case before. I am 6'3 and have leather buckets for reference.

Damn, I was getting ready to come here and tell you that was a hell of a lot of hard work, good job, etc. Then I saw the end. WTF.

I don't see anywhere in your posts, nor in the vid, nor YouTube comments about what happened. Were any of the dogs with you in the accident, and were they OK too? The pup still shots toward the end made it feel a little memorial-ish.

I got really nervous towards the end because I didn't see you put in that last cotter before the wheel went on. I was relieved you finally got there :D

I feel the exact same. I wonder if the rear risers would give the better seating option instead of the front being jacked up so high.
