It is sitting on top of the frame, even before the skidplate goes on it can't be seen, with it on you can't see anything up there.

 

No pics before or during install, I am guessing…

 

V3 rear plate redesign will be for the 14-21 2 wheel drives? Following for the update....

 

No, even if I had, once the plate is in, it is only visible through the hole in the skidplate the bolt goes through.

 

Yes, it will be able to be retrofitted, I want it to be a bolt in piece

 

Ahhh so a piece that we can order and add to our existing plate. Count me in.

 

This sounds almost like my truck did when I first loosened the TRD Pro skid plate and did not get it torqued back to spec. I let the dealer install the middle plate while doing an oil change and it doesn't do it anymore.

**Caveat - I upgraded Tyler's fasteners to larger size, Grade 8 which caused me to enlarge one of the holes to fit the truck frame - but even driving back home with only the two TRD Pro skid plate fasteners and only one of my new ones wrenched down, it did not make a noise. Personally, I think it's all about the "bind" of the plate, hole placement, and meeting torque values.**

 

I had a jingling noise when going over speed bumps, I could not figure out where it was coming from. I have a TRD skidplate and was not using the front fasteners between the tow hooks. I installed the front bolts between the tow hooks & the noise is gone.

 

Here is my very ugly template for the lifted truck skid plate. I have already put the word out in the Houston area to test fit it!

I finally threw down for a front and rear aluminum set on December 30th. Looking forward to receiving them and getting them on the truck for peace of mind when leaving it unattended at trailheads, or anywhere else for that matter.

I haven't heard of too many issues around us other than the Ybor shop that got busted a year or so ago, and a bust in Bartow a few weeks ago.

About to order the whole set, engine/front skid, front and rear cat plates, and penta bolts. Do the penta bolts come with those washers to prevent vise grips getting on them or is that ordered somewhere else? If they aren't included and I missed the link in this thread please forgive me, it's over 100 pages......

Also going for 3/16 instead of 1/8 all the way around, does that add a lot to lead time?

 

I don't know if it appropriate so please delete this if needed or let me k ow and I will delete. ... My Tundra got totaled before I could install my set of aluminum plates and secure bolts. The plates and bolts are still in the excellent packaging that they came in. Since I will be getting the 22 Tundra, once available... I am looking to sell my plates. If anyone is interested, please let me know.

 

Yeah, that's a good thing. I have a relative from Jacksonville that got hit at one of the trail heads in the Ocala National Forest while they were out messing around, so that was close enough for me. Unfortunately, there are thieves and idiots popping up everywhere these days. I would have rather put that money toward a C4 Overland front bumper, but first things first.

Before I drop 40 bucks on washers can someone tell me if these are the right ones for the penta bolts? Also I have no way to shave a socket easily so hope that isn’t necessary
